Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XIII

Realistically we are looking at another 9 delistings this year. (at least). we have 3 picks this year in the draft, albiet with an almost guaranteed no.1 pick. Reality is, we will have to take a deal for Merrett (3 x firsts should do it this time) to continue the rebuild. Potentially take...

AFL Autopsy RND 1: Done by the Hawkes

HAHA Are you kidding? That's exactly what the club has been doing, but it's coming from guys who played in the 90's and early 2000's!

AFL Autopsy RND 1: Done by the Hawkes

fundamentally we have chased this dream of pushing half forwards up to stoppages to win clearance and spread, giving tall forwards space, but this removes key structural elements and is Pyrite. Take Geelong for example, they rarely collapse the structure to win clearance ball and would rather...

AFL Autopsy RND 1: Done by the Hawkes

What bothers me the most is that the senior players just didn’t execute the plan. Can forgive a new player for getting lost at times but this stinks of the senior players checking out of the rebuild and out of the coach

Thanks for the input, I don’t watch as much much of the hawks as I used to (when living in tassie way back when!). I’m still expecting Hawks do it easily, they’re far more established. Shame that off field has got in the way so much the last 6 months

we are definitely a fast half forward short here, even with Kako coming back. Another recruiting need worth looking at for FA

actually not sure, I think he's a fraction taller on tap at the CBAs but Reeves plays similar to Bryan around the ground. I think Backiston still has a leap advantage on him, but not as strong.

some notes of mine from the Hawks giants replay and what it means for us: Blackiston clearly has a height/tap advantage over Meek, so CBA advantage could be a big benefit IF our mids can hold their shape for a change.. Mitch Lewis is being used as a tall hit up option from full back. Blackiston...

AFL Player 13: Nik Cox - cleared to return! - 11/11

Kevin Sheedy always said to draft talls and recruit mids and flankers. Fringe Talls have currency, mids don't - e.g. Tsatas

    AFL Player 14: Jordan Ridley - VFL this week... ?! - 24/3

Unfortunately it might be time for the glue factory Jordy.

AFL Player 15: Dyson Sharp - Listed as test after rolling his ankle - 24/3

well at least 80% of the guys playing on both sides took a quarter to blow the cobwebs out, just so happened that Sharp came on after most had already settled into their work. He will be ok and yes, get him into the CBAs and use him where we get the most to gain from it. Personality, I think...

    AFL Player 46: Lachlan Blakiston - Re-signed for another year! - 10/9

Wasn’t just the leap over Nankervis, it was the hits to advantage that made him so valuable. Goldy definitely deserves some praise as well for tutoring him, that wrist position looks Goldy all over at CBAs
