    I can't cook vindaloo any more because my wife and son won't eat it. They say it's too hot, but I don't see an issue. That's probably why, when I shared a house in my student days, my housemates called my curries "ring of fire".

    The problem with wasabi, is that it needs very specific conditions to grow, and is slow growing. For example, it needs cold, flowing water, which is easy in Japan, where they have plenty of cold mountain streams.

    Most so called wasabi is actually mustard or horseradish coloured green. Real wasabi is more expensive and has a more nuanced flavour. You can buy fresh wasabi grown in Tasmania - that's the way to eat it! You grate it to have it with sushi.
