I accept that he was brilliant in India and he did play very well at the Oval. It was a tough pitch to get in on initially, but he played superbly well. I just can't put him in the same class as Punter, Waugh and possibly Gilchrist. It is a tough one and he was the leading player on the planet... -

I think more pertinently, the two great bowlers have stood out and with their assistance, they have made a lot of top players look like great players - Hayden, Martyn are two classic examples or very high quality cricketers who look like immense cricketers. -

Its a good question. I would say in many sports that it is is the best players who stand out in a great side - Pele in 1970 Brazil side, par example, but cricket seems to be a bit different. The cream always rises.
