Autopsy AFL 2026 Round 4 - Hawks v Cats Mon April 6th 3:15pm AEST (MCG)

Once again, the controlling umpire made a clear decision - no free kick, play on. But another 40m away disagrees, and for some readon, we allow him to 100% over rule the closest umpire on the scene with the best view. The system is broken. "Play on" needs to be treated as a call, just the same...

Yeah great analysis on Fox - had graphics showing an 45 inboard kick.. that was spoiled and directly turned over.. Did lynch not bother watching the outcome before asking for the graphics?

Or at least some way for the other clowns to be notified that "yes, I've seen it, my decision is play on" "Play on" is probably easiest - they just need to stop over ruling that decision. At worst, should be a ball up due to conflicting decisions.

That is ALWAYS paid as a block. Insane umpiring Edit: you can't engage and jump into someone, taking their run, then not touch the ball.

It's because only one decision has a whistle involved. A "play on" should be deemed a clear decsion, and a whistle on the same incident can't over rule. Not spoken or dealt with anywhere near enough.

Utter bullshit. Controlling umpire made a clear decision and even called "play on" Bloke 50m away gets to over rule him. Why should one umpires call over rule another's? Especially when the closest controlling umpire is the one over ruled?

Wonder what the AFL/fox sports will do with the giants game running way long and will sell and truly over lap with the Dees game, due to lightning in the Giants game. (Fox scheduled for one to lead into the other, and have in the past struggle to be flexible when things like this happen).

Fox have struggled with it in the past - from memory. They have plenty of spare channels for HD and UHD, but memory says they are very inflexible with moving the second game across (and I think simply missed the second games start last time)
