Agreed. In fact, unless the Ruck is standing on the line and doing an absolute vertical jump, they are going to travel forward as well as up. Then, if the opposing Ruck decides not to contest and just get out of the way (as the Collingwood ruck did often), of course Meek is going to cross the...
We have had a great start to the year. The Swans are smashing teams: beat them. Beat Geelong in a belter, then beat the top team a few days later. Many suggested, given our early fixture, that they would take a 3-2 start. Now at 5-1, we are doing a lot right. As for the commentary discussion...
Buckley’s admissions show a self awareness, an ability to continue to learn throughout one’s life and adapt; hallmarks of a very good teacher I would have thought. Not all coaches (or teachers - not necessarily the same thing, although good coaches teach) get it right the first time.
And sorry...
Apart from knowing a bit about the game, Buckley is a very high-order individual; I have seen this first hand in the way he dealt with a sensitive issue involving one of our school students (Melbourne school) who was in the AIS academy (in Canberra) under Buckley at the time. Went above and...
Yes, I agree with the thought re false sense of security, but that is not the fault of the helmet. I also referred to an ‘appropriate’ helmet. Having said that, psychology aside, can helmets actually increase the amount of concussions?
Shaking is different to an impact. An appropriate helmet will reduce the force of impact on the head (reducing ‘a’ , in F=ma), which in turn reduces the impact on the brain. Think of crumple zones on a car protecting passengers far more than a 70’s Falcon or Kingswood.
Who is to say those 3 or 4 defenders would have all played against Geelong? Or, if the did, what would’ve been achieved against a less than optimal Geelong side? Do we know what the coaches had in mind re game plans, strategy, having a look at young players etc?
Ultimately, some of our best...
The contest resulting in the Weitering incident has and will happen endless amounts of times before the season starts. Just unlucky. Hamstring ‘awareness’ the same. It could be argued less collisions occur when more skilled players are on the ground.
