I don't think Lyon would have started the season with any plan to go backwards to go forward, as he is not that kind of coach. He would have been expecting to beat Collingwood and Melbourne and probably Adelaide, but he has presided over a series of games with dud quarters where we have lost the...
We have never been known as a club who values development, more about short term fixes and Lyon has never been lauded as a development coach... more like a top driver who has a race winning car handed to him, and when he hasn't got that race-winning car, it's a bit all over the road and bringing...
Just one of those footy things, immature hot-head footballer gets rubbed out for striking, move on. I've been in a few punch-ups resembling footy matches in my younger days, and it's nothing to do with toughness.
Remember Big Carl kept getting rubbed out for rough play and in the end he missed...
I would like to see Boxshall in MacRae's role right now, and Hastie on a wing in place of Wood- we just need to get development into these types of players and give them a block of games, but Lyon sticking with the old tried and true, steady as she goes, is just asking for us to remain at one...
The Richmond game could be an opportunity to debut one or two players. Tauru might spend a bit longer in the VFL, as Lyon doesn't like undisciplined players.
We badly missed Wilke's intercept marking after half time in that game, and also the goals that Higgo, Ryan and Nas could have generated. We were very poor at ground level in our forward half. Not impressed with Lyon's presser deflecting the fact that we lost by making excuses about AFL...
Lyon said the ground and conditions were good, I saw plenty of players bouncing the ball running with no issues- I've seen the Saints blow many a game in winter conditions in Melbourne. I hardly noticed the umps, more concerned with how inconsistent some of our guys are across the four quarters...
Hard to win at top level with key players out. Putting that aside, we had solid games from Wilson, Hugo, LOC, Hall and Jsos, but when the midfield as a unit is getting flogged, the backline is under huge pressure and is not our biggest problem.
The forward half however, is a real problem...
Owens and Sharman really off tonight- Henry not involved enough and midfield playing from behind all night. Suns just got the ball out of our forward half too easy- a problem all season
Can't see any reason why Boxshall can't get a game in front of Macrae. Windy has been terrible tonight and Wood barely had any effect. Too many gone missing
