    Kangas and Cats together

When, oh when, are we going to get some reports on the "North only" training on the other days of the week? Us country bumpkins can't get to them, but surely some of the city slickers on this board drop in occasionally.

    Cricket Thread

Switching this conversation to our batting, I find it a bit rich that Clarke is saying that the top order batsmen need to "step up". As Australia's captain, and premier batsman, why doesn't he "step up" and bat at number 3, as nearly all our previous captains have done.

Preview Our best 22 for Round 1

A slightly different view: Atley Thompson Grima McMahon Hansen Wright Wells Cunnington Anthony Thomas Tarrant Adams Daw Petrie Harper Goldstein Zeibell Swallow I/c Bastinac Gibson Firrito Sub: Mullet Em: McMillan Gysberts McKenzie No doubt I'll be shouted down, but I think that team would...

    Arden Street

One of my favourite memories of the Arden St days was an occasion when I got there early enough to get a seat in the old wooden seating near the player's race. Naturally there were virtually all North supporters there, but one particularly horrible Collingwood supporter had somehow inserted...

    Schimma cops it on twitter.

It's really sad to read such negative comments about Schimma, one of the club's all-time greats as a player, and a thoroughly decent bloke. He doesn't have a mean streak, which is why he wasn't a success as a coach. He holds no grudges, and is a North man through and through.

    Presser - we were tired.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the three players brought into the team were all clearly not 100% fit - they each had a poor game. Playing unfit players in a final is a very risky proposition, and it clearly didn't work well on this occasion.

MVP The OFFICIAL Votes v Weagles (Elimination Final)

Not a pleasant task this week. 3: Swallow. Clearly our best. 2: Ziebell. His best game since returning from Utah. 1: Thompson. After a poor first quarter, he did a good job in controlling his opponents, and backing up the other faltering defenders. HMs to Hansen, Cunnington and Campbell.

MVP The OFFICIAL Rd 23 Votes v Franchise MK II thread

A disappointing performance - clearly their minds were on next week. 3: Thompson. Clearly best of the North players. 2: Cunnington. Another excellent game - his recent consistency is noteworthy. 1: Mullett. Given his opportunity, he grasped it with both hands. He is going to be a very...

The OFFICIAL Rd22 Votes v freo thread.

Very difficult to find votes this week, for all the wrong reasons. 3: Swallow. Clearly our best, though even he turned it over a few times. 2: Thomas. Battled hard, kicked goals. 1: Cunnington. Wasn't disgraced in the frequent in-and-under tussles, tackled well. Garlett, McMillan and...

MVP Official Round 21 votes vs Collingwood

A great all-round team effort, so again, for all the right reasons, it's very hard to give votes. 3: Thompson. A magnificent game - he made the million-dollar man look like a pauper, while gathering plenty of possessions himself. 2: Cunnington. His best game for the club - his in-and-under...

The team that runs our player sponsorships, and kangalover in particular, deserve buckets of praise for all their hard work. Well done!
