    Preview Round 9, 2026: Fremantle v Hawthorn, 7 May 2026, 8.10pm AEST @ Optus Stadium

Scrimshaw's only serious fault is that he makes poor decisions when under pressure with ball in hand . He has cost us goals with panicky little kicks or poor handpasses that go straight to opposition players. If he had moe composure under pressure, he would have a complete game. He defends...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Matt Hill! CatB rookie, ex-Storm

Plenty debut in their first season. Maybe 3 pre-seasons to reach optimal fitness but not to play out a game. If I remember correctly, Matt Hill was listed as an emergency a few weeks back. If so, that would be an indication he is not far off.

    Toast Coaches' votes 2026 edition

I reckon that is a pretty accurate picture of list rankings at the present time. Kudos to our recruiters who brought in Gunston, Barrass, Ginnivan and Battle in recent years.

Autopsy Round 7, 2026: Hawks destroy Suns

Thanks Simon. I wonder if that was a factor in the Suns getting a couple of late goals in the second quarter.

Autopsy Round 7, 2026: Hawks destroy Suns

Something I noticed while browsing the stats is that Nash only had 63% game time. That struck me as odd he is usually 80%+ Did he get a knock?

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Pick 7, Cam MacKenzie, extends to 2026!

I don't understand the negativity. MacKenzie is 5 years behind Richards (2022 vs 2017 draft) and Richards only became an elite mid last year. I can see MacKenzie reaching that level. His athletic profile is broadly similar. Just needs time to develop his strength, endurance running and footy...

    Preview Round 8, 2026: Collingwood v Hawthorn, 30 April 2026, 7.30pm @ MCG

Schubert not playing for BH suggests that either he has a niggle or one of Dear, Lewis or Gunston pulled up sore.

Autopsy Round 7, 2026: Hawks destroy Suns

Rowell likes to take on the tackler and has the core strength to often get away with it. It is not so easy when the tackler is Nash, Newcombe or Meek (and sometimes two or even three of the above).

    Preview Round 7, 2026: Hawthorn v Gold Coast Suns, 25 April 2026, 12.30pm AEST @ York Park

Three of the inclusions are serious endurance runners (Dalton, Morrison and Finn). It is pretty clear that the strategy is to run them into the ground.

    Preview Round 7, 2026: Hawthorn v Gold Coast Suns, 25 April 2026, 12.30pm AEST @ York Park

Apologies. I really don't have the expertise to comment on comparisons between Finn and Geelong players. All I can say is that we have a very even list whereas Geelong has more top-end talent but trail off earlier than us.

    Preview Round 7, 2026: Hawthorn v Gold Coast Suns, 25 April 2026, 12.30pm AEST @ York Park

Nash has quicker decision-making, faster and more accurate hands and better delivery by foot. His tackling skills are also better than Finn's. Finn is better overhead and marginally better aerobically. Overall, Nash is more skilled which is why he plays every week and got coaches votes vs Port.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Will McCabe!

If we wanted to keep Will in the team, he could play wing with Weddle taking on Sicily's role. However, I think it is more likely that Scrimshaw will return for Sicily.

Autopsy Round 6, 2026: Hawks dim the lights

I thought he was our most effective mid - just marginally ahead of Newcombe - and voted accordingly in the Yabby

Clearly you never saw Leigh Matthews live.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear! Rising star nom!

A typical Calsher game - did lots of small things that gave us scoring opportunities as well as kicking a couple (probably three). One of our better players IMO.
