While that is an OK exercise and would possibly increase strength, i believe it would aggravate his wrist too much. His goal is to remove strain on his wrist.

Wrist or Shoulder injuries make it very difficult to train properly, for now you could probably just concentrate on lower body and core. Machine exercises which need less stabiliser activity would take some pressure off, but there is really no way to take all...
i refuse to do cardio, have had a run around playing footy in the park, but never stepped foot on a treadmill, stationary bike with the purpose of cardiovascular health or weight loss, but i do weight train 4 times a week.
