    It's just a shame that pieces like this get overshadowed by stories of footballers behaving badly. Sells more copy, I suppose, but stories like this should balance out negative stuff tenfold.

    The thing is, with the delistment rules, it's the Attard types who are always first to go. In an ideal world, it would be nice to be able to reward the kind of attitude that got a less skillful player to the stage where he's on the cusp of AFL standard, but the system's not designed for that.
