I decided to create a Gold Coast developments thread because the city is one of the fastest growing places in Australia and new developments are popping up on a daily basis. Essentially the Gold Coast is changing at a fast rate and this thread is intended to give posters an idea of what to expect in the future (whether you are from the GC or not). Most people will know the Gold Coast won the rights to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games and have based a lot of recent developments around the future event.

I will try to provide as many pictures and videos as possible so the thread is actually interesting to the reader and should develop somewhat of a database of developments. The first development that will be showcased is the Gold Coast Light Rail system (tram), known as GoldlinQ. The construction began in 2012 and the system will be running by mid-2014. The light rail will extend from Southport in the north, run through Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and end in Broadbeach. Below are some pictures of what the stations will look like.

Gold Coast Chinatown

Construction of the Gold Coast Chinatown began a little over a month ago and stage one is expected to be completed by mid-2014 to coincide with the opening of the light rail. The T-shaped precinct will be situated in Southport and will be easily accessible via the light rail is it is located one block from Southport station. The area will heavily pedestrian friendly. Below are some photos and videos that will give viewers a better idea of what the precinct will look like.
