More suggesting that Brissy are splashing a lot of cash and that Oscar’s deal may not be enough for B1, but sure that’s a good point too.

Maybe but not really convinced, they equally need a quality KPF.

No idea about Brisbane's salary cap situation, but I assume they're in a position to offer what they have to Draper while also meeting their commitment to OA.

I'd also suggest that WC are aware of what other club/s have offered OA - his manager would be mad not to wave the $$$ in WC's face to drive a better offer. The fact that WC hasn't shifted on their contact offer says they're confident it'll meet band 1. Losing OA for band 2 would be a ****in' disaster.

Where's our resident Lions fairy godfather to inform/mansplain Brisbane's warchest??

I remember thinking how great it was that we already had a JK replacement in his early years.

Now we're in such a hole that we're better off with the free agency compo if he leaves. Pretty dire stuff, but I guess it's like Andy Dufresne crawling through a tunnel of shit to find freedom in the Shawshank Redemption.

What they aren't paying Daniher plus how much the cap rises next year should cover both Draper and Allen. Bit of front ending this year also would help.

all this warchest discussion scares me.
Memories of 5 years of North Melbourne's warchests.

Lol yes

Any mention of a WC warchest should be banned - in a competition where less than 4% of all players get traded on average each year, gloating about warchests and player targets is a stitch up for disappointment and NM/STK-tier embarrassment.

I think we've suffered enough already these past 4 years.

I agree. Its more a West Coast Nuclear stockpile

I'm sure it's used by clubs as leverage in trade agreements to influence discussions around acceptable trade value.

But like you said it's too much of a risk for clubs to use it as a serious trade strategy. Clubs are rightly motivated to get a deal done.

Fans are idiot nuffies who are obsessed with their team "winning" and dropping "walk em' to the PSD" on internet message boards to crush opposition campaigners who don't want to "lose" a trade.
Honestly the PSD should be deleted, and the AFL restructure the offseason so that players who don't sign on are delisted prior to the main draft - and if clubs want to take them, then they can take their chances alongside all the new draftees.

Why do we need a whole special draft when we already have one for recruiting available talent?

(I'd also like FA to come with a system where the club receiving the FA has to cough up at least the points required to cover the FA's compensation. Would at least reduce the concept of strong clubs raiding weak clubs for their best talent)
