Great to watch, hard to listen to.

Strangely the biggest positive for me was Stocker. That lockdown back pocket is a hard position to fill but he looked really good tonight; in the past I think his decision making has been questionable and disposal a bit sloppy but he was looking good and with his trademark hardness he'll be first picked for that role all season if he keeps it up.

Midfield mix is looking great. Hugo a bit quiet unfortunately, I have very high hopes for him but Boxshall was looking impressive.

Hall and now Wilson are looking to be absolute weapons as goal kicking mid/forwards.

Also I am once again tentative on Mitchi because he cannot kick for goal, but jeez that tackle he put on with about 2 mins to go was standard setting.

Obviously just a preseason game, but I'm loving the danger our half and small forwards bring to our game. Hall, Philippou, Wilson, Ryan, and Higgins can all kick a bag, and are all really, really smart footballers who you can't just leave alone because they'll find a way to tear you apart.

Add Sharman and Owens as medium tall, Roma as a floater, resting Nas as the perfect wild card, and even Tauru and JSOS as hail Mary swingmen, and you've got a very interesting forward line with multiple different permutations for goal kicking.

I do think we are just one fit Max King away from having a team that can legitimately challenge.
Loved Wilson’s game.
2 goals 1 behind and 2 assists.. 5 goal involvements as a hf rotating through the midfield, was an absolute weapon.

Add Hall’s 4 goals, Higgin’s 3 goals and 1 assist, Sharman’s 1 goal and 3 assists, The whole forward line was cooking.

Good call. He was a very steady pair of hands, and brings a lot of physicality to the backline. I think R0 will be what we say tonight, but Sincs in for Carroll.

Owens at minimum will forge a solid 200+ game career on his effort and ability to create a contest/bring it to ground almost every time.

He's a 20-25 goal a year medium forward right now (25.12 last year, plus lots of OOTF/fell short). He could very easily get to 40 if he fixes his goal kicking up and has an actual key forward next to him.

It's whether he takes that next step in the Brad Johnson / Jack Gunston mould to consistently kick 50-70 across multiple years that I'm not sure about.

I understand the why of player analysis and great game or quiet to bad game. I'm not sure why tonight. This is going to take a journey. A hard one that many on here have been through before.

This feels like 2004 if that helps anyone. We have the jigsaw pieces. We now just let Ross to jigsaw them (or my Mum because she is a jigsaw goddess)

Tonight was good. Tonight we saw a vision of what recruiters and list managers see.

My favourites who generally speaking have flaws showed me their immense upside. I liked tonight. Not many will match our intensity and run. Skills yes, but a few of their highly profiled panicked serverely in the face of our pressure.

Camma > Dougal imo

Happy we pulled out of the Aleer situation, viking is 10x the player

Need to sign Wilson up before he's worth 7 figures

Team looks balanced

Tackling was as good as I've seen from us

Hall's that good, thank **** we lost to hawks a couple years ago otherwise they woulda got him

Some of Macrae's 1 percenters were unreal

Boxshall a steal

Just got back to the hotel from the game. Tough watching early due to conditions but a great result once we fixed our game style.

Early one we were very boundary focused and couldn’t move the ball. The new boundary rule might have more impact on corridor play the the stand rule. Most missed handball or kick towards the boundary results in a direct turnover. The disparity of risk between corridor or boundary has narrowed greatly.

Pou, Flanders and hall were all fantastic. As were hammer and Wilkie down back. Jsos started really well so was shame he took a knock. Carroll didn’t adjust to conditions that well but looks to be worth persisting with.

Garcia is out of the 22 for mine. The more I see him in person he convinces me he isn’t as contested as we think. He keeps shirking contest front on. Think he can become a decent role player but I am not in the camp of him being a potential a grader. Trav long way off if, needs more time. Banfield has gone past quite a few based off today. Collards attitude towards keeping warm when he wasn’t getting on was pretty ordinary watching from behind the dugout.

Great signs. SOS and Jo with Gubby and Leppa sitting behind the bench. Leppa leaves at 3 Quater time with a passing remark of “this game is over”.

Flanders BOG an absolute ball pig that’s always in the right position work rate outstanding.

Hugh Boxshall doesn’t take a backwards step and you can just see he hates to be beaten absolute competitive beast and you can almost guarantee he will end up with a head bandage most weeks 😂.

TDK how good is it having a ruck that can give us first use, I can’t remember the last time Witt’s hasn’t absolutely monstered us it was so good to see TDK jumping all over him and giving us first use.

Max Hall elite at getting into dangerous space and never wastes a possession. Hall having a set shot from 50 and I’m confident it will go through. Love how he sets up goals and finishes just the ultimate half forward.

Jack Macrae still a contested beast he will be great at clearance working alongside the young Mids.

Pou found lost of footy, looked dangerous and you can see he’s going to be quality just needs to be a little aware of what’s around him at times.

Wilkie an absolute rock down back.

Tauru spoiling everything is a sight for sore eyes

Caminit uses his body nicely and won’t be pushed around.

Windy was great even out bodied JUH at one stage and made him look silly.

Nas did a few Nas things but wasn’t dominant. That’s ok save it for the real stuff.

Ryan worked hard and he’s going to team up beautifully with Higgins they’re both so dangerous and Sharman is the ultimate team man.

The suns kicked 1 goal after qtr time I know it was slippery and it wasn’t their best team but clearly you can see our defensive structures are solid.

I had high hopes for Jack Carrol unfortunately he just seems rushed and can’t get himself into space to use his foot skills I doubt he plays round 0.

That was a great hit out.

I think Windy to half back, rotating through the middle with Flanders is so much sexier than Clark, Carrol, or anyone else in that we currently have. I also like the looks of going with 4 talls down back, with Wilkie playing small and floating off. My new hope for Round 0:

FB: Tauru Caminiti Wilkie

HBF: Sinclair JSOS Windhager

C: Wilson Philipou Boxshall

HFF: Ryan Marshall Hall

FF: Higgins Sharman Owens

R: TDK Nas Flanders

Int: Macrae Hill Wood Garcia Stocker

Emg: Dodson Banfield Byrnes

That was boner worthy. Started slow then just hammered them on rebound. Good to see but off the back of their terrible skills. Nice to still be able to punish on the back of it efficiently.

For mine it's Sincs and one of Stocker or Hunter for the smaller backs. How Wood and Hill get on the park idk, Banfield will make way but love the prospect of him, looked solid and the speed of the game wasn't too much for him.
Garcia didn't get amongst it but was almost and hope he takes his chances next week. Love the new recruits

I'm still not sure he's not more of a big mid than a forward.

A couple of minutes to go before half time and it was 29 to 26…

To me , it wasn't like we tried harder, its just the stuff we did worked better, and they ran out the game better.

And if they played 36 players to our 26 they would have had some guys out there that are a ways off it, so we did play a pretty second rate team for a fair chunk of it, but it’s definitely pleasing that we put them to the sword.

Apart from anything else, it gives us momentum and confidence, and they’re as important as almost anything in footy.
