Collingwood did it every other week in 2022-2023, and eventually it became clear it wasn’t luck.

Consistently winning close ones isn’t luck - the opposite is also true and for too long we’ve been on that side of the ledger. What has happened is important.

Huge credit to Jaques for standing under that awful kick and getting smashed in that hard collision. He comes back somehow and willed himself back into the contest. Massive upside we are very lucky.

We’ve also managed to get a small gap on 8/9 of the top 10 sides from last year (Gold Coast the only other not to lose yet).

Another great win away from home. They are some of the best wins you can have we have had 2 of them this season so far against quality opposition.

That final quarter momentum the Crows had I thought we were done for but we found something at the end. Oscar Baker what a goal!

We probably would have wilted in that type of game in the past. We might be the new kings of the close finish.

I was wondering if Ah Chee will get cited for his hit on Jaques. Yes he spoiled the ball but the clear intent was also to go right through a skinny kid from behind with no awareness that the hit was coming. He could easily have spoiled that without using his airborne hip and shoulder in the back of the player. A free kick every day of the week in my book.

There used to be a thing called Unduly Rough Play. It probably doesn’t exist in the rule book any more but that’s what it was.

I fully expect they’ll say “nothing to see here“ but it certainly wasn’t a good look.

Anyway a 1-2 game suspension would only be symbolic. Looks like Ah Chee will be out a lot longer than that with his groin / hamstring strain.

Huge respect for Jaques in dealing with all that and continuing to play an important part in those last few minutes.

The dirtiest play of the night was Soligo kneeing Baker off the ball after Baker spoiled him and he dropped a chest mark. Went straight down with two knees into his back while Baker was on the ground when the ball was then fifty metres away.
