So which 3 young players are you cutting for list spots.

How are we getting them? Why would we just swap experienced players, 2 of which were premiership stars for other deadwood players, who aren't even superior?

Would be one of the all time stupid recruiting strategies. Then what even is the benefit. Say Cox and Steele are better, what do we gain? We lose by 10-20 points less? Brilliant.

no, please LISTEN as I've gone over this probably 30 times

I would not cut the young blokes. I would cut

Prestia
Lynch

I said they would definitely get re-injured and we have played only 2 games & that is already true.

I also never said i would get all 3, but i would have been happy if we targeted these 3

This move actually makes our side younger, especially if you take JUH. The point of this is that i know its very likely Steele & Cox will play more AFL games than Prestia & Lynch. Steele is younger, so his vet support would go for multiple years vs 1. And Cox can play back-up in 2 roles, not just 1. But most importantly, Steele & Cox have a much higher play rate than Prestia & Lynch. Everytime they get injured, chaos occurs. And they get injured ALOT.

Cant have any cohesion when your experienced "leader" vets are in and out of the side consantly

With JUH, i just really like him as a KPF. If he can get right he could be the best Full Forward in the league type of potential. He is a very different FPK to Faull & Armstrong too - he was actually a excellent football fit for our future. His challenges are obvious, but a good confident coach wouldn't irk at that, as they are up for the challenge ofrehabiliting him.

And the guy who took him, 100% would have tried to get him IF he was still coaching Richmond. And if he did, most of you here would have been talking about how much of a genius he is & laughing about how we just got a free #1 pick.

Richmond 10 years ago would have taken JUH, without question. And i much preferred barracking for us when we had that approach - it was at least fun. This rebuild has been dull and uninspiring

What about the next Matthew Leuenberger or Travis Boak/Joel Selwood....

Yes, all those extra picks have really helped Norf escape the doldrums. How many extra picks did it take Hawks, Crows, and Freo to climb the ladder?

The problem is this is a negative externality. Two clubs cut a deal and 16 clubs pay for it without any involvement in the transaction. It’s not just that the two clubs benefit, every other club gets pushed back relative to where they’d otherwise sit.

How much better for North if their second round picks last year were 15 and 16 instead of 27 and 28, because the picks the Dees got from GC disappeared from the draft as they should for getting Uwland and Patterson, instead of staying in and bumping everyone else down? And the compensation picks handed out for Allen, Draper etc..

There are better ways to help bottom clubs. Remove the salary cap floor so they have more money for FA. Give them more rookies and list spots to turn over talent quicker. Give them more soft cap money for development and pre-list academy and father-son players. None of that punishes 16 other clubs just for existing, especially the other shit clubs like us who were punished for a compo pick last year.

Creating picks from nothing compounds the benefit for two clubs and punishes everyone else. The pick shouldn’t stay in the draft. It should disappear.
They got f-all assistance picks and unlike the teams you mentioned they had no quality on their list to help them.

Your natural selections are no longer enough to rebuild with. The talent pool is too thin and there are too many teams. When you compromise the top end of the draft you make it almost impossible for some teams to rise.

Who got no assistance? Norf? They got pick 3 for McKay and 3 end of first round picks as assistance.

Unless you are Richmond and trade Baker, Bolton, Rioli, Graham for borderline start-up concessions.

Nobody in Victoria was going to touch JUH mate. He needed to leave his social circle in Victoria.

And I said nothing about cutting the young blokes.

Not sure how you can possibly call our rebuild dull and uninspiring when we quite literally started it with a draft bounty resembling an expansion side, that involved massive overs for everyone traded.

No idea why you are so fascinated with Jack flipping Steele lmao, we have Taranto, Hopper and Ross excluding Prestia. Hotton, Smillie and Cumming all being injured is the only reason you even bring this guys name up, just captain hindsight.

So where does he fit in if Hotton, Cumming, Lalor, Taranto are all fit? Or are you so hung up on the difference of Steele over a Prestia, Ross and Hopper type like that's some crazy upgrade that'll start us on a premiership assault.

How is Lynch, Prestia & Hopper travelling right now?

I'd still take any of those 3 for any of the 3 you named.

If the Suns agreed to take Hopper and his god awful contract for JUH, or Demons with Steele - id take it in a second. Steele's not even much of an improvement, but his contract expires next year and he does far more defensively & in the middle. Both have ordinary speed & DE% - but Steele does a lot more things better than Hopper. Hopper seems to be aging much fasters.

And I would take Cox for Lynch in a second. Cox plays. He is not the forward Lynch is, but he plays more games & he can also play ruck.

Lynch is a one legged, busted ass pony. Cox can at least be inconsistent in 2 positions:tearsofjoy:
We aren't getting Steele FFS, let it go. We also aren't getting JUH.

Just invest in youth. All for letting Hopper go but who is going to take that contract on? No-one unless they need a solid VFL captain.

Cox is just laughable, won't be in the AFL after this year or at a stretch next.

Just play the kids, over and over and over again. Rotate them if they get tired. Play Hopper if they all get injured.
