Claiming he called the oppo a “Maggot”
This really comes down to if anyone but the other player actually heard him say that particular slur and can verify it.

If it's just between him and an opposing player who genuinely could have misheard him then the benefit of the doubt has to be given. It's not like he shied away from admitting fault the first time.

Well, there are 20% of the voting public who vote for Hanson and what she says on race and immigration (and the stunts she pulls in the Senate)

Pot, kettle, black

And for the record there is no way I would ever support someone like Hanson

But they are out there

There is definite push back in the under 25 year olds too where they reject being told what to think. Offensive memes about a range of taboo subjects are everywhere. Hear young people talk and they will sound like full on racists or homophobes but see it as dark humour. Trolling people to upset their orthodoxy of acceptable behaviour has always been a thing younger people do.

Educating them into why it's hurtful and making them self police knowing that it's a kick in the guts for another person is going to be a better way IMO.

In the UK where they jail people for saying that they support a group or beeping the lyrics to John Farnham songs in Queensland doesn't make people think a different way. It has the opposite effect where you get people sympathetic to the thing you want them to stop doing.

And just to add, the North Melbourne and Brisbane coaches remain in their positions (noting Eddie Betts supported the Hawthorn players in that matter)

But we get these pile ons

Without hearing (in this case Collard’s) the other side of events

There is an allegation and now an investigation

So what say we see what the investigation informs before piling on

No doubt the kid needs some support right now

At the end of the day, he allegedly did something stupid. He'll get a fine and a long lay off. He's contracted until 2027 and unless we have put in a clause we probably can't sack him. He's going to have the AFLPA and his manager in his corner so he'll likely be at the club regardless. We are just going to have to hope that this is a wake up call for him.

He's struck a Frankston player so there is a small chance someone made a complaint knowing his history but it sounds more likely he lost his temper and was out of control. They probably need to get him some anger management classes.

I think everyone needs to tread very very carefully on this.

He has a prior. Yes.

He also admitted straight up last time he was at fault.

We and the AFL landscape as a whole need to not go all Kate McCarthy right now.

Steven May? Lmao

Dylan Shiel? Can he play and do whatever coaching role he has?

It’s been long enough.

Time to kiss and make up.

Nothing wrong with the Collard pick; he had projected to go a lot earlier than our selection.

Nothing wrong with the Collard pick, given our move to create a pool of talented indigenous players who could support and feed off each other.

Nothing wrong with the Collard pick and the flight risk as he was brought into our fostering First Nations environment and in fact signed a contract extension.

The one thing that is wrong with the Collard pick is Collard himself.

Sometimes things just don’t work out.

Anyway it will sort itself out and whatever happens will happen. Beyond the above I have no I interest joining in any pile on of the young man.
Good post.

This doesn't suit the bevy of egotistical, obsessive revisionists though.

You know who you are 😘

Would be a great get.

Been a while since we've had a quality full back in our reserves team. Barrat has had to shoulder a huge load for a youngster

Winner of Carlton VFL's B&F last season by a landslide

Will partner with Barrat beautifully - seems very mutualistic with their attributes
