Like I said it in the game day thread but picking a player and only giving him 32% game time is the most boggling thing to me, esp when the talk about the team is can’t run out games. Not HOKs fault, he ain’t up to it yet. Find a different way to give Pitto a rest

Cerra is such a nothing
How many players do we have that actually have ‘something’ though I guess

Yep, I celebrated all summer watching the video of Jeffy G, run that goal home. 🥳

Time for us to release the boxed set - 1999 Preliminary Final, 2013 Elimination Final, 2023 Elimination Final, 2023 SeminFinal.

Let’s call it “Carlton Good Times” - dynamite!!!! 😉

Honestly the result wasn’t as bad as I expected going in. Probably recency bias but I cannot off the top of my head remember a more disgraceful and biased performance by the umpires. Was a 2-3 goal loss that ended up at 5 solely due to umpiring.

Umps cost us a good 6 goals. How was the stand there then walk the ball over the line under no pressure. Rachele clear throw in the goalsquare. The massive arm chop on Kemp. The arm chop paid right in front to them. The list goes on. That game was influenced by the umps.

But if it hadn't belted down with rain I would guess the margin would have been bigger.

Probably the worst case scenario. A belting would have at least served some purpose because Voss might have been sacked. A close loss doesn't do anything.

Every team demands standards. People only notice the winning teams as the ones who demand them. Just because you demand them doesn't mean you will win.
Nah... you're way off.
Championship teams demand standards at a level others do not.
It doesn't guarantee winning, but it gives you the best possible chance.

We are not an uncompromising team and haven't been for a long long time.
I'm not saying our players dont work hard and try hard, they do... I just dont think they've ever been in a culture that was a level up on what they're used to.

Reckon Vossy has huge regrets having Crippa on the bench to the start to 2nd term.

We are absolutely wasting Jagga right now though, better second half but a shadow of the player we saw in preseason and the first couple of games.
Agree with the comment about Voss erring leaving Cripps too long on the bench (when he was on fire) at the start of the second when the umpires swung the game back Adelaide’s way with those 3 ridiculous free in the centre, but why does is it the coach’s fault that Jagga can’t seem to get near it after he played well in his first couple games?

McKay should have held a few more marks tonight, and he was rightly criticised by Nick Riewoldt for not holding them, but the one highlight they showed of him not holding a mark was where he clearly had his arm chopped, no free kick 🙄
He goes to ground way too much for a tall and then takes 5 years to get up

Man we're going to pay for throwing those early games. We could've had a year with some interest in making 10, but by round 5 we're a lame duck.

Voss dropping Hewett for HOK was just absolutely crazy Vossy stuff. Unimaginably bad for a guy with his job on the line. Then completely changing up our CBA for the start of the second qtr after it worked so well and they pile on 6 goals in a matter of minutes. He's just not the guy. I like him as a person, but he just doesnt see the game like you need a senior coach to.

Some improvements, but another loss and harder teams to come.

The state of the game is so shameful, umpires are atrocious and confused constantly, normal out of bounds are getting reviewed? But not all of them? Not sure I really enjoy watching it anymore.
The talking heads in the media highlight one discrepancy so the afl must full swing the other way to make sure the one exception never happens again

Plenty were good early.

Walsh, Newman & Lij were terrific, Haynes worked hard.

Our big guys just don’t take enough marks, & that has a huge impact on the game plan.

The game is so frenetic, ball on the deck constantly, it exhausts our guys.

More beer for me.😎👍

Not a Carlton thing but I am caring less and less about football… I don’t know what the game is anymore.. rules changes on the fly with impunity
I barely watched a non carlton game last year and will not watch any of say this year. Last touch netball rule is ****ing horrendous. Trying to break a tackle counting as prior opportunity though, that is just next level stupid. How one person can think that's a good idea, I'm not sure. For it to get past a group of people is beyond words. You now need to take the ball and go limp if tackled rather than trying to break through... What the hell are they doing to our game?

Walker goes down like he’s been shot … 50 metres

I watched how he was trying to grab marks tonight.

Either he has been coached appallingly throughout his career or he hasn't taken on the lessons. The way he holds his hands in wet weather for marks was not the technique to grab them.

The coach preferring Cerra over Jagga means he's being played out of position.

Full time half forward flank now I think.

I am so over us having the worst coach in the league.
