Agreed. They've tried to justify the ridiculous extention they gave to Sean Darcy by playing Jackson outside of his best position when it's clear that Jackson is their best ruck and one of the best in the comp. He's doing fine in the current role but that's just because he's so talented.

100%, they need to just eat as much of Darcy's deal as possible and move him on. Longmuir is so stubborn he will play him whenever he is fit.

A week after the Lance Collard independent tribunal had two diametrically opposing views, Foot stood by his report overnight after alleging that Butters used abusive language to him.

Even if it gets thrown out at the tribunal, Port were also heavily penalised during the match with a 50m penalty taking a player to the goal line. All on the back of what appears to be a highly subjective interpretation of some words.

Reminds me of the time Terry Wheeler was reported for umpire abuse whilst captain coach of Williamstown.

Wheels got off, stating that the umpire misheard him when he said 'you can't umpire', thinking the middle word was something entirely different.

Even if they are directional microphones, enough would have to be picked up if it’s close enough for the umpire to hear. You could hear Butters & Wines speaking when the ump told him he was on report.

Otherwise it’s pretty dangerous, especially as theoretically, an umpire could be involved in sports betting and can make decisions that could influence on a result.

A dangerous, hypothetical theory, of course.

I know this came out a long time ago and its not recent news but absolutely staggering that they would allow someone to work as an umpire who is also employed by a betting agency.
