I see carngham Linton n Creswick are both the saints in that league which seems weird let’s see what happens I don’t think Mininera will go under without a fight
No they won’t, but every year it gets harder and costs more and more to put sides on the ground. No one lives in these places, there are virtually no kids. For a lot of them there entire team comes out of either Geelong or Ballarat. For a lot of them it’s a year to year thing but when the end comes it will come very quickly.

Creswick wear the St Kilda Jumper but with a red back - looks good

Carngham wear the Port black jumper with red and white V’s - equally a good looking jumper

Munners would be very happy with the jumpers in the Central Highlands League - some very original kits

Whilst that may be the preference of those clubs to join the CHFL, I don’t think that league would allow it. They didn’t want Maryborough after multiple efforts to get in and quite simply, too many teams in that comp as it stands.

Folded.

From memory they worked pretty hard hard to get into the MDFL with the last ditch pitch to play the whole first season away from home each week, but were knocked back in the end.

Correct - the clubs that were recruiting out of Ballarat thought it would kill them. Sadly they’re going to die regardless.

carngham look like they've changed their jumper to the late 90s st kilda one (big black cross on the front)

Is he saying having no reserves, just one senior grade?

I think that might be an option to keep clubs going, but the more ambitious clubs would head off to another league with their seniors and reserves. It probably would keep some clubs going for another decade or so. Not the worst idea in order to keep clubs running.

Unfortunately it went past that 30 years ago - The Mount Noorat league ran like that and one level of juniors - Under 18’s

Lack of juniors will kill these clubs - it’s doing it already.

Yeah u r right its not the 70s n 80s anymore theres just no numbers around and so many clubs.

Very Simple.

Lismore Derrinallum
Ararat Eagles
Tatyoon

Would go to most likely the Central Highlands or maybe Maryborough Castlemaine. Central Highlands spits into two leagues of 10

Wickliffe Lake Bolac - most likely fold

SMW Rovers - maybe merge with Skipton or fold

Glen Dunkeld - South West

Penshurst
Hawkesdale Macarthur

Could go to South West but more likely Warrnambool & District

Woorndoo & Caramut, merge and go into Mortlake and play in the Warrnambool & District or else fold

Great Western & Moyston Willaura - merge and go back into Horsham District or fold

For reference Skipton (reigning CHFL Premier) got beat by Learmonth on the weekend by 10 goals. Both teams had players who had played in the MDFL. Learmonth had 64 players at Training on the Thursday prior available for Seniors & Reserves, most MDFL sides struggled to field two sides.

Petrol insanity will only speed up the inevitible.
south west is pretty light on in that Warrnambool > Portland > Hamilton triangle. GD, Penshurst and HM to SWDFNL makes sense. HM to WDFNL could work too. the league is just so spread out.

SMW, W/LB, Moyston Willaura, Great western, Ararat, Tatty could break away and great their own league. Less travel and pick up another team near by.

3-4 of those clubs will not make it.

That would be a real shame. Back in the day the swdfnl had no junior football. Which did boost ressies numbers. I wonder if we see (before they fold) some teams just not having reserves. To help seniors. With a 12 team comp you could still run a 8-10 team reserves comp. Not ideal and afl vic probably wouldn’t allow it?

Is that a generalised statement or do you have a few in mind? If so, who Royboy?
Look to the towns that are forced to bring in sides every week to play. They rely on farmers having the $$ to do so and the volunteers to do the work. Both are starting to fray. I number are already struggling for reserves and juniors and the cost to put the show on keeps heading north.

Sides in the middle where players have to travel from major towns or regional cities are the most immediate ones at risk. The biggest worries would be WLB, Rovers, Moyston Willaura at this stage.

Good job pulling on the boots yesterday for Moyston Wilaura Munners . I’m sure the locals appreciated you helping out.
