William John Bray (1860-1908) was a half-brother to Francis Patrick Bray. It looks like he was involved with the same mining company in Tasmania as his brother, and he had also been a footballer:

Well that is very strong evidence - particularly with the fact that you haven't found even a remotely alternate person who is 'could be confused with.'

Have we raised this evidence to the St Kilda Historian (Holmesby) for his opinion as well ?
And just checking all bases, is there an active ancestry tree we should try and make contact with to see if they know of any connection ?
