Is it possible to go in the draw, let alone win the prize, if I don't include both of these two things in my entry post in this thread?

1. The text "I want The Golden Ticket for ANZAC Day"
2. An @ to another BigFooty Essendon supporter (this isn't a commitment to give that person the other ticket - you're just sending them an @ )

Answer: No. No it is not.

Thanks Chief!

I'm seriously spin out by this. ANZAC Day at the G has been on my bucket list since who knows.

Now, to get from the sticks to Sydney in time for a flight to Melbourne (where I have visited once in the last 40 years), and a hotel, then to the memorial on Saturday morning, then to the venue.
Crazy!
Bit nervous. Any inside info you mob might have for getting to the war memorial and so on would be greatly appreciated. 👍

Holy ****ing bucket list! 😱😁

You can easily grab a tram from Flinders Street station/ Fed Square that will drop you on the doorstep of the shrine. It's also not too far a walk if you are both able. Enjoy, it's a great day. Hopefully it's an even better one and we get a win!

Congrats ghostdog I am really happy for you!!

Can definitely recommend the Dawn Service at the Shrine of Remembrance.

I would aim to get there around 5am. There will be over 10,000 people there so you can’t get a park within 2km. If you are coming from the city it is about a 15 minute walk (& about a 15 minute walk to the MCG). Sounds crazy to get there at 5-5.15am but I have learnt from experience that you should aim to get there around that time(rug up). After the ceremony they have a gunfire breakfast in the parkland as you head back towards the city. For a gold coin donation you get some scrambled eggs, sausages and a cup of Lipton tea. After that you can usually get into the Shrine until they shut it again around 8-8.30. Beautiful building and definitely worth a visit while you are there.

Make sure you get to the MCG early. They lock the gates for ten minutes during the official ceremony and you can’t get in (don’t duck out for a quick durry before the match or they won’t let you back in during that time).
The Last Post is spine tingling stuff and you don’t want to be stuck outside while that is going on.

Really glad you get to experience it mate…hope we put up a good effort for you and the lad 👍🏻

That's awesome advice Sporno, especially getting into the ground. Cheers.
I also read last night that it's best to get to the G around 1/1.30pm. Does that sound right?

Could always duck in for a beer an Y&Js,the atmosphere will be buzzing. Walking from Fed Square is easy too. It is a great walk, just follow the fans! Enjoy and take it all in, it is a special day for sure.

1-1:30 perfect.

Dawn service was great, with the exception of the hatred that was shown during the welcome, which was a shame. I loved the crowd's rejection of it though, and Uncle Mark's good grace to just keep going. And the governor's speech was brilliant. Not too cold this morning.
