Autopsy Round 8 | St Kilda vs Carlscum

Blues gameday thread, lots of despair a smattering of copium.
One trying to convince himself JSOS was emotional about Carlton and TDK wasn't as he was a Saints supporter.
Here's a tip. When SOS was an assistant underRoss 1.0, JSOS would run around the club with a Saints jersey on. Jo said he was a Saints supporter.
Sorry to bust your cope champ, but the Silvagni's have cut the cord with that s**tstain of a club.

For what its worth, Jack nearly started crying when he was asked about Carlton in the post match interview, he was holding back tears for sure. He clearly loves the club, and that's okay.

next few games:

v 9th placed Gold Coast
v 18th placed Richmond
v 1st placed Fremantle
v 2nd placed Hawthorn
v 3rd placed Sydney

obviously have to beat Richmond, but need to give Gold Coast a good shake too because the three weeks after that are going to be pretty hard
Would love the hawks scalp the most out of all of them

O'Connell still has an upside. Carroll has held down his spot this year, but yeah. Tauru and Boxshall don't really play that role, ( i had hopes for Hastie ). Maybe Collard is the solutiion, but it was his first week as a back i think. He needs more than one game. All our washed up Blues, ( Stocker , Dow , Carroll ) may not have much future.
Carroll is improving every game, he'll be with us next year.

Dow & Stocker wont be

Probably lot of people wondering what is that Lygon Street Limbo crap.

Apparently Freddie ( the drummer ) is still doing some gigs.

Box was an absolute bull in the VFL. I would prefer him in over Macrae at the moment
Well, I put on this site thru the week that De Koning was doing a power of work from goal square to goal square and that a breakout game was in prospect based on work rate (and skill) - and that we need both he and Marshall to hit the scorecard.

Guess what?

We welcomed back the very classy Henry tonight and he showed us what we have been missing, and badly missing. His VFL form the week before last said he was back.

And Howard is an absolutely vital link to those who doubt him.

It remains my view that our best 23 on the park will give it a shake on a good day but short of that we have holes as shown early tonight.

So, missing we had King (his return is now a lock ASAP), Higgins, Wilson, Clark and Ryan

And I would have Tauru bounding around on a defensive flank and Keeler on the bench.

So, missing 7 players.

In terms of who they replace, tonight was, to me, instructive.

Caminiti (King), Butler (Higgins), Macrae (Wilson), O'Connell (Ryan), Stocker (Clark) are identified and, past that Carroll (Tauru).

Doesn't quite add up because who does Keeler replace (Wood?) to give that bonus mis-match off the bench? - but that is a good thing noting the super talented Collard will need to be considered.

From the VFL match today, Dodson showed he is in line for Marshall (but will have to wait for full time duties, which is ok!!) and the likes of Boxshall, Banfield, and Travaglia can continue to develop until their times come (as with those who remain speculative)

We have a few more senior players so need an eye on the future by nurturing.

Great win.

When fit and in form, both Henry and Howard are in our best 23. Dougs makes Wilkie and Silvagni better, while also being more capable of negating a power forward himself. We would have beaten Adelaide if he was picked. Awesome to see Henry finally looking like his old self again. Was zippy, clean and damaging.

Was also amazing to finally get some scoreboard impact from the rucks. With King presumably out for another 8 weeks with another minor soft tissue tweak and Caminiti unable to get a kick, we'll need the rucks to keep kicking goals if we want to push for a finals spot.

Huge games from Owens and Sharman. Coops could have kicked 5 but his Riewoldt-like workrate resulted in some Riewoldt-like kicking.

So, after an early scare, but then a very pleasing win.
We move on to next week.

Ins. Collard, Higgins, Ryan, Wilson

Outs. Butler, Carroll, O'Connell, Stocker

Carroll has improved but just dont think we need him atm

O'Connell has improved, just dont think we need him also atm

I know its only 1 game for Collard at half-back in the vfl team. But gee he looked good there, we could do with his speed & elite kicking.

Max is getting scanned tomorrow, looks on the low end.

Paddy Dow maybe a concussion.

Higgins was a no from the doctors (through Lenny)

Wilson with a virus texted and said he was no good.

Learned a lot from the Collingwood game, Ross going back to the Collingwood game for the second time today. Fair enough

Liam Henry "Far from perfect, but did take a couple of opportunities"

Dan Butler Hamstring from what they've told Ross, not scanned yet

Paddy Dow was ABSOLUTELY a concussion. Didn't move for about 5 seconds and hands were clenched in that fencing response. Was a bad one.

Was it a plan or something, players like Flanders and Nas were quiet as hell first half, while the Blues run and spread started going off the charts. Then come back out and unleash them.
We do seem to have a bit of an arm wrestle during first halves. Third quarters not so good. Tonight we got that right.

Sure it’s not a plan. But I think we fancy our fitness levels and our run to finish out games. Wilson is a big part of that. His running is next level. We missed that.

Silvagni giving it to Cripps in Q3 for chicken winging Garcia 😍😍😍
I did wonder what that was about. Chicken wing! I thought Garcia was going to deck him. He definitely cocked the fist. Love Hugo. So feisty. Doesn’t care who’s in front of him.
