If it did happen the way Blue_Fusion said and we did match a bid at Pick 3 (2234 points), we would have an end of 1st round pick coming in (by bidding on Cochrane) and then we could use our own 2nd round pick? Let’s say these picks are 23 (815) and 27 (703). That would leave us 716 points short, which could be applied with the 10% discount and going into deficit in 2027.

Not quite. The compo pick is only given the next night of the draft, so technically, we can't use what we don't have.

Also, 10% discount will apply, so it's 1961pts to match a pick #3 bid.

I reckon the guy who never throws in the towel is playing in our 2s, Hewett. Can’t play a slow midfield, but I reckon he should come straight back in. Guy is a warrior and shows leadership through his effort. May need a new role as a tagger of opposition mids (not suited to quick mids though).

On a night full of lows, one (quite literal) high was Matty Carroll. Great to see at least one young player moving forwards this year.

I love him. He might not always pull off the high risk/high reward spears he attempts (wasn't an issue so much last night though), but you can never fault his effort and he just keeps working. Has shown a great ability in recent times to keep drifting forward and becoming dangerous. He just plays the game the right way for mine, and shows up a lot of more senior players when it comes to courage and putting in.

Like it or not we are in a far worse situation right now, the senior players we have are mentally cooked and need to be moved on but we can't trade anyone out this year because of walker and the next 2 drafts are all tassie so no ones going to have anything to offer.

That means in 2029 we are going to be sitting here with Dean, Smith, Walker, Carroll as our only meaningful talent to build a side around and no draft capital near the top end to bring it anyone else.

All the recruiters need to go, all the player development needs to go, the head coach needs to go, all the senior players who have given up and are just playing out their final years need to go.

They obviously don't care about this club, been happening for a long, long time. Voss will and has already destroyed this club another one in the long the line of people who have destroyed this club.

I reckon Weiters has been demoralized by being in such a crap team that is only getting worse ... and that Carlton have not provided him with at least one defender who is close to the standard that he is, so that he has full confidence in them, especially when he is off the field.
Our backline being vulnerable when Weiters is on the bench is nowhere near good enough.

We desperately need a May/Lever combo down back
Freo's Brennan Cox or Suns Sam Collins would do ... a couple of big solid Rocks.

This is worse as Voss walked into a plumb job with a list that was primed. And will leave it worse than before he came in.

We like to blame Voss for the one dimensional crash-and-bash side, but he inherited a list with inside mids in the middle, on the wing, in the back pocket, in the reserves... etc

the top end was primed in 2022/3 but that blinded many to the hollow core left by the bad trades and missed draft picks

HOF is the defender close to his standard who actually is potentially better than most of the guys you have listed above
