Umpires couldn't care less that Naughton was getting taken out in midair every time he went up. Multiple times directly in front there was a gigantic shove in his back and not a single one lifted the whistle to their mouth.

Meanwhile our defenders only have to breathe on Georgiades & he gets a free.

Though our defenders rarely got close enough to breathe on him.

The club needs to show the vision to the umpiring department during the week and ask the question what the heck is going on? They have to ask for some accountability because that was horrible and in some cases very very dangerous

We needed and deserved that. Almost stuffed it up, but did enough to win.

Maybe the best game I've seen Sanders play, very clean and worked hard. Bont, Ed, Budarick, Selwood excellent. Freijah maybe best game for the year and Dale gave us a lot of run. Tim is so important, if it's a concussion again that really hurts for next week. Arty huge in the fwd line too and won us that at the end.

A few passengers in our bottom couple, not sure about Gags, Hynes quiet again in this forward role.

Atrocious goal kicking, dropped marks, Coffield giving away that stupid free for their last goal.

We deserved the win but **** me did we try our best to blow it.

Also - whilst I’m not really an umpire brasher, that non HTB against Horne Francis at the end was utterly cowardly.

They absolutely squibbed that, I was furious. I’m still furious.

Anyway, we deserved the win and somehow found to a way, so that’s good.

But geez.

Not a good night for the heart that one.

Big mark from Will Lewis in the defensive half at the end. Really like what he has been offering.

We left a heap out there, but far out:

• 2 softies to Georgiades in the 1st
• 2 clear Naughton (shove and arm dragged) frees missed in good positions
• 1 goal immediately following the OOB they said was inside 50 when it was outside and should have been our lasoo free
• 1 goal following the free for JHF for high in the marking contest when already our on the full

3 close wins - after all of our close losses last year - and looking like we might bullshit our way into a top 6 spot after not actually playing all that great footy across the whole season is looking like a very reasonable prospect.

Third time this season we've come up against a rabid away support base in their conditions and their umpiring and plucked a narrow win.

9 more games at Docklands for the rest of the year, and 7 more wins is probably enough to get us into the wildcard at least. and 8 wins probably gets us top 6.

Port’s form line the last month was competitive against the Saints, should have beat Hawthorn, destroyed Geelong and lost with the last kick of the game against Adelaide. 3rd quarter slop aside this was a good win.

Once Freijah irons out that dinky kick crap from his game look out.

Of all the players to lose to injury did it have to be English again??? The one player we can least afford to lose. Quite frankly it turns us into a bottom 4 team when he isn’t playing. We will lose against Carlton without him I have no doubt. Such a shame that what was a very promising season has turned to crap. Gutsy win tonight but we will pay for it by losing big Timmy again

Bont is severely hampered and is still a class above 45 other players every week:

30 touches (2nd, by 1)

at 90% (2nd to a guy with 13 mostly in the defensive 50)

with 403m gained (7th for the match)

and 10 tackles (1st, by 3)

and 7 clearances (equal 1st)

He does it all and never shirks showing up

Smith isn't that great around the ground , but winning the ruck or breaking even is important . Vitally important at the end. If Emmet was rucking , we lose.

Agree with most said, just grateful to get a win.
Compare the way Naughty is treated to Georgiades, like actually show the free kicks and get the umpires department to explain.
Buku started the first two games so well, O’Donnell was bad. That’s definitely switched. If Lobb & O’Donnell are back I hope Buku goes out & Buss stays (even though he was average tonight).
Rapt for Sanders.
Budarick makes a huge difference for us, along with Sellwood who has quickly become the general of the backline.
Amazing to think that Bont at 50% is still the best player in the comp.
