Actually I think cal mentioned tanking works out much better for the blues. Need them to finish higher than the bottom 2 or thereabouts so they can’t get Walker and another player. 15th or thereabouts will do nicely

Dees offloading generational players like Oliver, Petracca and May and backing in youth …playing a great brand of footy yet we seem to be reluctant to cut a chord on some players ..
Annoying to see
I think Melbourne have recuited exceptionally well. Lots of fast players who can get the ball. I don't think we have the same type of player coming through.

Hayes, Swadling, Allan, Saxena and Parker all have some speed about them.
Difference is we will only play kids who are “ready” meaning they won’t play regularly until they’re 25

We just moved on cox, whe, Mitchell, Markov, checkers.

I didn’t see you calling for the kids to be played after the games against Freo, hawks, or bombers

That’s right …I only called for it prior to that.
Before that stretch of games I’ve been calling for more youth to be played…but we know we won’t do it

Melbourne did recruit exceptionally well, having so many first round picks didn't hurt either.
They have one first round pic this year too.

You still have to pick the right players. They obviously targeted pace with their picks.

They did well getting Harvey Langford at pick 6, I remember on draft night he didn't look very happy at all.
He's turned into a great get for them and doesn't look unhappy now.
He reminds me of Young from freo, they are game changing players

I wish we were a club with no culture and stuffed things up to the point May and Oliver were worth SFA.

What was Petracca worth?
3x 1sts….

May was 35…not sure what you wanted him to be worth…
The Petracca deal has picks . As a base pick 7 and 8 is a very good return to rebuild. A late first this year.
May could not be traded. Age and issues.
Oliver for how good he can be got a future third.
The administration turnover the club has not been stable and a poor culture.
Their choice of coach seems very good and their recruitment is excellent.
Their progress has not been only playing youngsters and it has not been controlled.
