First Crack Preview said that if he was kicking AFL average in goal kicking he would be leading the Coleman

How does that work. If he's kicking the average number of goals, surely he'd be middle of the pack. Or is the average referring to his conversion rate?First Crack Preview said that if he was kicking AFL average in goal kicking he would be leading the Coleman

Seeing him kick a bag was a delight but I think most of us would happily admit he did it against a much weakened side and a particularly weakened defence. Ryan Gardiner, Buku and Busslinger were no hope, whichever of them were playing on him.
What is most exciting for me is that Curnow appears to have taken the Hawthorn game to heart. He got smashed by Barrass. It was a really bad performance that night but since then he's looked much more focused, engaged in the game all four quarters and has been much, much stronger in aerial contests. Even when he doesn't mark it, he's not getting beaten in the air (and nor should he to be honest).
When you look at this stats for the year so far, he's looking much more positive than a lot of people seem to think too. Even prior to last night, he was in the top handful in contested marks, marks inside 50, score involvements, and scoring shots. He's now even higher after last night but of course he has a game in hand on most of his peers. Looking really promising and he has added so much to our forward line.
Agree, reckon he should have had this week off.Not a night for tall forwards - but jeeez, just doesn’t look quite right.
They need to split the "play from the goal square" between the three talls. All of them do better on the move. It's a sacrificial role.I know his assignment is to play out if the goal square but would love to see him on a lead. Just seems to struggle to get separation and too often is in a wrestle with his opponent.
Wonder if he got injured in the last contest, might be out anyway

He's been important structurally but he is a very good field kick. Can't argue with 9 and 1 and maybe his role changes a bit later in the year. While he’s good for us in a structural sense, and is doing ok, he’s clearly not giving us the star quality we were hoping for. You don’t recruit Charlie Curnow so there’s less pressure on your other KPF’s, although I appreciate the upside. You recruit him to be your main man & he’s nowhere near that.
The irony however, is that our overall forward line looks well balanced and is performing, despite some of the component parts not standing out.
I’d like to see Charlie try getting on his bike and getting more ball around the 50m-70m region, with Joel playing deep & Logan roaming all over. Then again, I guess the coaching team have the strategy side of things covered and are pretty content at 9-1.
