Surely game can't go ahead Saturday which means a large portion of hull fans have lost a lot of money and many can't make an alternate date. But how do boro sell tickets in 48 hours?

This is an absolute mess.

Right decision to kick them out. You can’t have a team admit to blatant cheating, including in the fixture to reach the final, go on and win promotion.

It is a real mess but at least the severity of punishment should mean no team tries it again.

Sporting sanction to kick them out but financial decision to put boro through. Boro lost the second leg where no spying happened. We should be up.

Wrexham probably spewing this wasn’t caught sooner. How dumb. Admitted to a few times but no doubt they would have been doing it much more than that.

I agree with that.
I kind of feel for the lackey who was sent to Middlesbrough to spy by his lords and masters at Soton HQ. I hope he's not been dragged under the bus by this whole mess.

No they were charged before the semis so Boro is given the win or should have been given 3-0 first leg. Soton stalled about presenting their evidence

Thats nothing to do with us. Only one team has won their way to Wembley. Boro weren't spied on second leg. It's a farce.

They broke the rules before the tie. Whatever happened in the two legs is irrelevant. Would you be saying the same thing if you guys were in Boro’s shoes?

A lot of boro fans before the verdict were indeed saying exactly that.

It sounds like Southampton have admitted breaking the rules on multiple occasions. So they can only appeal the sentence. I don't know how that would work as there is no clear precedent to compare it to. The EFL could even counter appeal for a harsher sentence.
How could it be harsher? We're already being directly punished in two seasons.

Hard not to ban when they’ve admitted doing it three times. And they didn’t win any of those three games. Need to get better spies. Players and fans would be furious with their own club.
If it's multiple games then yeah we deserve our whack even though I think it over the top compared to punishments for financial rule breaches that give teams an advantage in every single game.

Also if it's multiple games then Boro and the play-offs weren't uniquely impacted so they don't deserve to get another crack. Massively unfair on Hull, they should cancel the final and send them up.

They could have easily have said Boro is awarded the first leg 3-0 but instead made it easier by saying you’re out those semis were void.

They should have done that at the time. Southampton would have approached second leg differently.

So the first leg should be disregarded because they cheated, and the playoff is just decided by one leg at Southampton?

But they didn’t sp why punish Boro? And Boro would have approached second leg differently as well with a 3-0 lead. Understand your frustration but don’t think you’re thinking this through

So you're going to replay it?

It's not punishing boro, they didn't win the second leg.

I think anyone who thinks the decision to put boro in the final is anything other than protecting the financial interest of the efl is mental.

Look at every other instance of a team being removed from a knock out competition and tell me in how many instances the losing side got put through?

I'm a realist and know if it was us in Boros shoes I'd absolutely happily take a place in the final but it'd feel very hollow and if we went up in that situation I'd feel quite guilty.

And I know you can't cancel the final for a whole host of reasons, but that doesn't change the fact this is a unique handling of kicking a team out.

Of course it is.

In your scenario the tie is decided by one leg at Southampton's ground that they won in extra time. Every other tie is decided by a home and away leg.

So replay the whole semi if you think that's unfair?

Like sorry mate haha, you lost after spurning dozens of chances first leg, the spying had no bearing let's be real. As I said I'd be saying the same thing in your shoes but any rational neutral thinks we should just be up.

Triggered by a club on the Humber.
Sounds a tad more logical than triggered by a fan halfway around the world who follows a club on the Humber.

Jeez Louise.

You’re really being a little over the top. The first leg is effectively 3-0. They spied for that game therefore the game is effectively forfeited.
Not Boro’s fault Soton stalled presenting a case and EFL was too pissweak to go ahead with the case.

Your viewpoint is clearly biased spurred on no doubt but try outrage on Hull forums for I’m sure.

I'm not sure I am. Check social media for the vast majority of neutrals.

Are you genuinely saying if this was fa cup fifth round we wouldn't just go through?
