Yeah, it's an interesting one. But the AFL has to tick off each deal as it happens, doesn't it? So if they don't think the deal is OK, they could just squash it there and then?AFL will be watching deals between *, Port and us very carefully. Any hint of a side deal not to bid will result in both clubs losing picks. Not to say that it won't happen, but it will have to have the appearance at least of a fair deal.
If so, that would push the risk back onto Essendon. They can't ask for too much margin, otherwise they might find themselves in a situation where they didn't bid on Cody but they don't get any benefit because the AFL vetos the trade.
