AFL will be watching deals between *, Port and us very carefully. Any hint of a side deal not to bid will result in both clubs losing picks. Not to say that it won't happen, but it will have to have the appearance at least of a fair deal.

Yeah, it's an interesting one. But the AFL has to tick off each deal as it happens, doesn't it? So if they don't think the deal is OK, they could just squash it there and then?

If so, that would push the risk back onto Essendon. They can't ask for too much margin, otherwise they might find themselves in a situation where they didn't bid on Cody but they don't get any benefit because the AFL vetos the trade.

So our 2 picks to match a Cody bid are Swans' 1st + 19.
Swans would need to finish 8th for us to be able to match a bid at #3.

Because we’ve traded for the pick. It only applies if you hold your natural pick, and that pick gets pushed back.

Um.... with the new rules in place, commitment to Cody, Tassie dominating the next two drafts, limited trade currency, and the obvious fact that 'all (good) players are not created equal', I'd predict they'd have quite lot to do with it.

We have really good trade currency and these guys are 3 draft away, who knows how they will be tracking.

I wonder what the delay is in re-signing, how would you compare he and Humphreys trade price? Even with dealing with SOS I think Wilson is cheaper.

Haynes and acres replacements are already on the list and guns. Hof and Carroll. Walker is going to squeeze someone out... Hewett/ainsworth/evans? Serious list developing here. Especially if the new ruck comes on.

I really like this team and the depth. Part of the huge frustration of the last 24 months. Injuries and playing so far under capacity. Should be a very enjoyable 18 months.

I still love Saad especially and Williams a bit less but it's nice that they're basically not needed. Missing them doesn't hurt. Hell we've got charleson looking ok enough too. I don't think there's going to be any issue with replacing experience here until Newman and Cripps hang them up.

Where are these 3-4 wins?

Please explain to me, how exactly are we going to win 3 or 4 games with the way we are playing? How can you win a game if you only play for one quarter.

Also the man named you each game and asked you to not take the easy way out and pick 3-4 games we would win, and what did you do? Took the easy way out again.

You're head is up in the clouds in lala land if you think we're winning 3-4 games in that period.

Realistically, we win none of those games if we keep playing the way we are. Even if we do improve in that short time, that still will only get us maybe 3 wins if we're lucky, against North, Saints and Bombers and now my head is up in the clouds thinking that could be a possibility...

Don't get your hopes up yet. We've done this before and in defence to us, we were told we wouldn't sack Voss, so we assumed with him im charge we would continue the trajectory we were heading in. Simple put, you got lucky voss walked, otherwise we'd still be on only 1 win and possibly bottom of the ladder.

No luck involved at all. Just bypassed emotion and used a bit of logic and reason. We should’ve been 4-2 at the time and it’s not unreasonable to suggest we’ve been the better side in probably 8 of our games.

Anyone who thinks we need to blow the list up and 2015 rebuild is kidding themselves. Need to keep adding quality kids (which we will with 4 firsts over 2 years) but the senior core is very good and ready to win games now. I would actually consider our 27-31 year olds underrated as a group.

Maybe so, but I've seen this story play out before time and time again. Let's wait and see from more games before we jump the gun.
