Autopsy 2026 Rd 12 Brilliant Blues win a thriller over Cats

We’ve never defended the ground better than we have lately.

Never.

Wilson. Young. Byrne. Ison. Hayward. Ainsworth. Walsh. Acres. So many guys just working so hard to close down space.

Never seen this.
We pushed up at them when they chipped the ball and took away their space

We are so good to watch since Fraser. Love seeing the young guys get a go. Blokes like Ison and Wilson coming in would be infectious I reckon. Billy looks untackleable. The boys look so happy.

In the first quarter we made so many of the skill errors that plagued us under Voss and we suffered as a result. The fact we stuck at it was very heartening however.

A lot of me can’t help but think we’ve seen this before however with Teague and even when Voss first took the reins only for us to thud back to reality when the pressure heated up.

I definitely think the new guys are helping however with their enthusiasm which is also making the old guard of Acres, Williams, Gov, Saad etc now have to earn their spots.

That said I’ll enjoy the win tonight - it’s always great to beat a really good side like Geelong - and I’ll let Wright and Davies worry about what we do from here.

There's every chance Crippa has 9 votes in his last three games.

He's storming right back up that mountain.

and for all of his beast mode efforts over the years, you feel that contested grab meant a hell of a lot to him.

Been incredible to watch.

Brownlow Medals are an individual award that means nothing - but if Cripps can contrive another Medal this year at Poor Nicky Wickys expense it would almost be worth it to see all manner of Filth heads explode. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Josh is quietly humbly doing a fantastic job.

He’s made footy fun for our players and us

A sensational win.
Love the way he gives credit all the time to the assistants. Calls them out.

Don’t want him as coach but he’s gone up a lot in my estimation. Glad he’s at the club.

Thought we played better against Port tbh, we still make a lot of fundamental errors, even stuff like body position, letting players run past or forward too easily because we are in the wrong spot. And don’t start on missed tackles because we aren’t going for the hips.

But that was an effort based win, just refused to roll over.

Great mark by Cripps but a fair bit of credit has to go to McGovern. Long, fast and low kicks don’t give defenders the time to roll off.
Better quality of opposition means we didn't have the time and space we did against Port

We played better today because the opposition had the ability to do those things and we adjusted and found their weakness after the first quarter

THIS was something we did not do in the past. We would stick to the original plan and get beaten as a result. Historically this game would have been a 40-50 point loss in the past because of the start we had and the resulting folding of players

Cowan on the best forward in the league, he scored 3 but was quiet compared to his standard.

Well done for a young HB

Slight semantic but he kicked 4 goals and 3 behinds, all of which were gettable for him, so he could have had a bag.

He is a very difficult match up. Too quick for Weiters or Haynes, too soon to throw Dean at him.

Kemp and Gov are probably the best match for him but they are integral to the forward now.

Cowan wasn’t a great choice tbh but we don’t really have a matchup for him…nor do most clubs in the league.

Crazy some choose to “find” negatives.

Exhausting oxygen takers.
Personally I'm enjoying every win as it comes but I'm also conscious that we have a long way to go as a team. At the end of this season there will be some List Management decisions to be made and I'm sure that we will move a number of players on.

Next season whoever our coach is will have a big job to do and it will be interesting to see how we go when the pressure is back on.

Right now though, I'm just enjoying every minute of whatever this is.

Didn't get a goal but Harry's performance in the ruck in the 3rd was brilliant I thought. So glad they have put him back in there. Also gave Pittonet a long rest to freshen up for the last
Yep hes been fantastic since going into the ruck. He is such a presence around the ground and his rucking is pretty good. Stood up in the final quarter.

This group feels like they genuinely love and play for one another.

Group was genuinely fractured last year and it bled into the start of this year on the residuals.

Last two wins were good but this is the corner turning win.

Well done to Josh Fraser and the assistants and to the leaders.
And guys like Hayward and Ainsworth with massive self belief. Killers. And a few big personalities.

Looks a different club.

We must not play another ruckman unless Pitto gets injured.
I'd like to think they could give Pitto a break every now and then, but I dont want to see two ruckmen in the side together.
