Autopsy 2026 Rd 13 Blues squeak out a win in mediocre game

Any team that goes on with that mindset doesn’t deserve to go deep in September. Take a rest game when top four is locked and you know who you’re playing.

Wildcard legit on the line and the boys almost flushed it down the toilet
We’re not going deep into September. 2026 is done. It’s about development and Cody.

If Derksen ever plays again I'll microwave my membership.

Was not good tonight but his endeavour when we were struggling for that was noticeable.

Not to the level tonight and might not be in genera but we've had far worse play for us with less effort.

Don’t take tonight as a sign of things but the previous month. Tonight was a rest game. We took it easy. Missed shots and still did enough.

I took more from our 3 previous wins that I did from this game, where we were clearly off from the beginning. That’s why I haven’t gone all out in the criticism of tonight’s game but rather happy with the month as a whole.

Only major issue was with the Walsh decision by Fraser - I don’t want to see that again.

I think he’s better forward. Liked his effort

We need another tall option forward. I’d give him a decent go

Derk?

Leaning the same way. I think he's got a bit too much of the Liam Jones about him down back. Does some amazing aggressive defending to win the ball, and then the instinct seems to just be to run before looking. I think he's just the type of defender who wants to take ground and counterattack, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but he needs to get better at identifying when he can go and when he needs to go back.

Up forward at least that chaos instinct is either generating shots on goal or contests deep in our 50.

Yeah, I don't think she was worse than any of the other umpires out there tonight or most of what i've seen this season. She's an easy mark.

I couldn’t name another umpire tonight, so…

It’s like, quick, name your favourite/the worst/the best/the most controversial goal umpire! Was your answer David Rodan or Chelsea Rolfe? Yes, it was.

Loving Billy W. Like what he’s doing off HB and the kick ins. Runs really hard and is like two players when he takes the receive.

Looking forward to some of he and Saad duo-ing in the second half of the year. Billy will learn some tricks.

But Billy runs towards the end we’re kicking to… why would we want him to learn from Saad?

It’s tough replacing Weitering. But he did a great job v port. It was the midfield giving up too easily that cost our backline early.
