The contentment of playing shit but winning is one I could get used to

When Smith’s efficiency by foot and hand improves he will be something else- already does so many things well

Quiet (and fumbly ) game from far too many tonight - playing like the bye was next week…

We need another a big tall forward cause I like Harry up in the ruck and involved

I know the final result says a 5 point win, but honestly, Ison, Kemp, Crippa, Byrne and Ainsworth missed absolute gimmes.

I will also say, there was a contest in the middle (I think during the 3rd term) where Robey went in hard for the ball and Florent didn't even think twice before meeting him just as hard.

He's done that multiple times this season now, truly a fantastic acquisition.

More about overrating Ollie than not playing Acres. Let’s see what happens when Ollie is available again
I think the question is what happens with Cerra when Ollie is available since hes been playing wing and i think adding him back into the CB wouldn't be ideal

Jab, I want to ask you to do us all a favour and politely ask you proofread/edit your posts. I like your contributions, but the spelling and typo's make them really hard to read.

Cool, mate?
At least you know they arent using ChatGPT in their responses lol

I saw an interview this week where he said "If I'm going a bit crap I'll start a scrap."
That moment made me start to believe we were going to win tonight.
Both Ainsworth and Hayward bring the class and mongrel that we were lacking.
Byrne too. A few times hes was the first one in to defend hes team mate. Even when he was battling massively out of his weight class

The only positive is that was a reality check before the bye. Almost beaten by a reserves team. There should be some serious video analysis of how easily we were smashed around the clearances and how we stopped our short kicking, overlap running game almost completely.

Also, and has been obvious for a while now, our rucks do not understand the ruck rules at the centre bounce. Time and time again we give away the free.

And no other player in the comp gets pinged as many times as Cripps for throwing the ball. I am not blaming Cripps, I'm blaming how harshly he gets judged compared to pretty much every other player when it comes to the handball/throw

Not this year.Might need to give Pitto another week and go with Reidy………
God help us no.

At least Pitto battles hard and gives us first use of the football a large amount of the time. He may be useless around the ground but Reidy just isnt an AFL player. He should be no where near the team

Florent was underrated when we got him. These are the solid contributors that you need.

Jagga is super clean gathering the ball. I think what he needs to work on is taking more ground with his disposal and being more damaging. His metres gained isn't a real strength. That will come in time. We can't forget it's his first season.

100% you're right about the fumbles and dropped marks tonight. It was infectious across the group. Pitto dropped multiple marks, including one near the goal square. Hayward dropped a pudding in the last. Too many to point out. It was was ugly but we take the win and move on. Unacceptable level of pressure in the first half though. Felt like they rocked up ahead of themselves thinking it would be an easy win. You give any team a sniff, even a bottom one, and they feel like they're in the game and gain belief.

Another big tall forward has to be priority number one at the end of the year. Harry looks so much better when he roams up the ground and gets involved but it leaves us too short and without a key target when he does.

Harry Mckay was awesome in this game - the mroe he plays around wher ehrte ball is the better he gets.
Also Ive changed my mindon B Wilson- he has a lo to work with primarily his kicking is very good as fr as Carlton standards go. Young cntinues to unimpress me- except - he did show some class when he picked up a very tricky loose ball and made a coorec deciosn to dispos eof itporperly leading to a goal. Derkesen isnt an inspiring defener ther isa biog difference between hsi good kick and the howler turnvoers ...nto a fair criticism though when he wa sbeaten a few tie sytaller oppnents ....idd liek to se him haev a go as a forward as well.
Walsh laying wiht a bad shoudler -. Smith getitng beter iht every gae- we have a weapon there ISOn a tafd on teh uiet side but didnt get many poortunities- a few times showed his class and composure though - anothe rgood one there 100%. Kempy's best os great and his worst is awful - but Iiek Kempy that from teh bouday banana was him personified.

The team played lie kthey ar elikely to play in teh forst half- it was atorcious -they got sucked into playing Esendon game and allowe dhtem too much football - it was a good win comong from bhind liek htat though- thank Frankie/Hayward Ainsworth and Harry for that.

4 points!
Twas a good night out JaB?

Absolute 💩
We should never be happy with 💩
But we won

acres and more not clean enough.
Missed opportunities in front of goal.
Smashed at contest

Absolute 💩
We should never be happy with 💩
But we won

You know what, I’ll never take a win for granted.. Was ugly but glad we got the 4points.. Would rather us win and keep riding this wave rather than lose and be where we all were 6 weeks ago all depressed and sad and sorry for ourselves 😆

I think we'd need to win all of the next 3 to have a realistic chance, our fixture for the final 7 games isn't pretty viewing.

4 teams from the top-6
3 teams from the middle-6.
I don't think we make wildcard, we will have an off patch again but thats fine by me.

Get to 7-9, win 3-4 of the final 7 to finish 10-13 or 11-12 leaves us with pick 6-8 + 18 for walker which covers it.

Means we have finished the year 9-5 or 10-4, shown any prospective coach we have something to work with and allows us to bring in walker to add to the midfield mix.

Lots to dislike, especially after the way we've been playing these last few weeks.

I don't know why we allowed Essendon so much space, especially coming out of their back line.

We're lucky they were wasteful going forward and turned it over a lot.

With around 6 minutes left on the clock, we should have slowed the game down.

In saying all that, we found a way to win and we can bank the 4 points and move on.

Thought Dean, H and Ainsworth were great. Wilson and Byrne are continuing to build nicely as well.

Very pleased with that win. 4 in a row is fantastic work.

Did we play poorly - yes, absolutely we did.

Did we find a way to work for a win - yes we did.

A poor performance here was not unexpected after what the season has encompassed. The players have taken on a lot of stuff over the last month. The first 2weeks, the release would have been stimulating, but now the grind has kicked back in.

We have definately changed the way we play. There is a lot more assuredness, along with more dash and dare. And definately less panic.

We played poor tonight, but it was a different poor to the worrying kinda poor imo. The calmness of a coaching panel calmingly and methodically and invisibly doing their jobs, shows thru on the field the last 4 weeks. Tonight we found a way to win, instead of finding a way to lose. The bye is handy this week to reset and get at it again after.

I enjoyed winning...and Essendon losing. Fantastic.

Gee Deano is a player. Without Weiters to lead down there, young Deano did.

What i like about this incarnation of us is i am confident we are working hard from top to bottom. Havent felt that about Carlton for a very long time.
