So was I, but then I wonder. DId he decline initially?wow, surprised Woosha hadn't been in the HOF yet.
Amazing that I could possibly counter that his Dad was….Best player I've even seen live in person.
Bar none
He is without a doubt not the best player in the last 35 years. 25 you have a good argument. 35 years no. He is at best 3rd best. Behind his dad and carey. Then its either ablett jnr or lockett.Gaz is without a doubt the best player i have witnessed in the last 35 years. Fitting that he didn't have wait.
From experience, one of the great nights in football. Deserving entrants all round.
Went to see Freo vs Geelong in 2006, when Ablett was known as a freakishly talented but lazy player, and Mark Thompson was seen as wasting a generational list.
There are few highlights of this game available but Ablett dominated and kicked a career best 6 goals, including a couple from impossible angles dodging numerous tackles, and we got thrashed by 11 goals.
My Dad wondered aloud, "This kid's better than his Dad."
A Cats fan around us said "Because like he's lazy like his Dad, and it's why we won't win a flag until Bomber gets sacked."
Despite thrashing us we then won 9 in a row and finished 3rd while Geelong missed finals. And Gary Ablett Jr. was never heard of again.
5 years retired minimumWhay is the waiting period for a player once they retire?
You'd think players like Franklin, Fyfe and Martin will be considered soon after their waiting period has ended.
