Hope Nash gets a run in the middle and shows us the rumours weren't mere hype and he's got a future.
Even with Duke out we're playing 4 kids on 5 or fewer games.
7 on less than 25 games.
Very young squad.
This is delicious.
They look so slow, it's almost like they're not going to be a contender any more.
And their list is like an retirement village.
So much for all the media circle jerk and backslapping. They're getting reamed by the spooners.
Lapping it up.
Good astute recruitment.
Funny paradox that we'd love to offer a very late pick to make it a trade and thus keep any Smith compensation pick... And Adelaide would be wise to refuse such, to hope AFL house were instead generous with a robust compo pick to them. Gill's quite likely to...
Seems right. I'd imagine that they'll likely have 2-4 33yo+ players hanging round. Probably someone will go another 5 years. There's little alternative and no real competition for spots, so they'll persist. Danger is fit and going strong, will probably still be amidst it all. He'll probably keep...
Hoping to get some pleasure in other's pain, here's an hypothetical overview of Geelong's list in 2023:
There will remain below age 32 a total of 20 current players who have ever played a game, assuming none go in the coming list size reductions.
Kolodashnij, Bews, Stewart...
Let's also bear in mind that clubs don't trade picks without considering who they want to get in the draft that year - a club only trades a pick if it doesn't rate anyone it likely would get with that pick. They've done their due diligence and followed the draftees for years, have much more...
List is tracking well for a rebuild. Aiming at being quite well positioned by 2023 when Mitchell gets the reins.
Will get some great picks over the next three drafts till then. Dip down, get some generational players, and head back up for another decade of glory.
There's pain currently as age...
I'd agree, for a given definition of decent.
I'd disagree, for a given definition of decent.
The way I use it, decent = star.
But to reiterate the main point, if we recruit like we have been recruiting, we'll be decent shortly :)
So this year we retire Stratton, Puopolo, Burgoyne, Henderson...
I want to buck the trend and say I'm happy with where our list is going. We are building nicely.
AFL is a game where having a bad bottom 6 means the whole group gets flogged. We may look trash but we're only 3-4 average players off being a good team again.
Don't forget the depths of the...
Not contending this year, just building. Hope to add some finals experience. Clearly need a good small forward, more midfield depth with jets, and a younger ruckman. We're still hugely in rebuild land, have 7 players 30+, and are only just clearing the list cloggers with very poor true depth...
I'm fine we get nothing in return. He owes us nothing and you'd be mad to give anything for him given his age and injury status. In a trade you're threatening to not let someone go unless you get x from a club, whereas the goodwill I'm praising is that we don't stand in his way and risk his...
Very happy with how we move on respected players to play out their careers at other clubs. As a club we really endeavour to look out for our legends. I also love how we grow the game and help the struggling younger teams in a way we never ourselves got when we were battlers as a younger club...
Not that I hate Richmond. Pretty happy with either team winning the flag. If it's not us - but is not *, nor the $yds, nor the Cats - then I'm fine.
GWS grows the game. F that rubgy sport. Take their heartland.
