All of these make him a great forward.
It's like people have forgotten that he averaged 1.4 goals per game in his first 25 games as a skinny runt.
Anyhow, enough of Sicily in the Phillips thread.
bc i think differently to most and believe Sicily would also be our best forward if he played there permanently.
We have defensive options, but few viable forward options.
Sicily should be pushed forward.
We can cover him.
He is not getting a game over Lewis and Chol either.
Fact is Dear would not be preferred over any of the top 20-30 key forwards in the league.
He's a first year draftee!
Like every draftee, he is not the finished product and has work to do.
Watson has work to do too.
The debate was never if Dear was the finished product, or not.
We ALL AGREE he is not.
...and given we are not "flush with key forwards" he is the best available to play.
So he should play bc his...
Not really.
The club obviously thinks he’s worth consideration to be included in the team.
If he was as unprepared as so many are saying, he would not be in the squad.
I’ll support Whatever the club decides.
The past does not matter, only what he is doing now.
If Dear was just getting 5 kicks and scoring 2.2 each match, I might be sympathetic to the view that he needs to do more.
His numbers are good all over.
Reports all confirm he works hard.
When DGB is near the ball or with it, he's very good.
He just struggles to do that often enough.
Blanck is a better stopper.
Phillips a better intercept mark.
What's odd is that our best CONTESTED MARKING FORWARD is often in the top 2-3 for kms covered during a match.
Surely this has to change.
He is most dangerous close to goal.
Just keep him there and maybe he might not get injured so much.
OK, i was thinking only of Hawthorn listed players, but fine.
On Mitch Lewis, my recollection is that he had a patch of form kicking 2-3 at BH for about a month and then he debuted.
Might have been 6 weeks, but it was the middle to latter part of the season and he wasn't doing quite as much in...
Day injured
Lewis Injured
CJ injured
Our best KP defender injured (prob Frost now)
Our best KP forward injured (prob Chol now)
Sicily, Nash, Newcombe out of form.
5 of our starting 18 out for most/parts of this season.
3 of our best from 2023 down on 2023 form.
WHY IS HAWTHORN LOSING???
Relevant period in this sport is about 20 years.
Can you remember any KPP since Buddy/Roughy were draft performing better over 5-6 weeks and still not getting a game?
I don't.
