Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear!

people - we do get a little ahead our selves. He may not win a Normie or Brownlow.....just 200 games and multiple premierships. I am still high after his game.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Nick 'the Wizard' Watson!

or the crazy kick goes through the goals and we blow the lid off the stadium. I say he is in the team to take those half chances. Will be special.

Autopsy Round 8, 2024 : Hawks leash the Dogs

Well, I thought I'd pop on here early. Nup, 8 pages already[emoji1] So proud of the team. We can see the potential when we play like this. So much to like. Calsher Dear is such a great story. Could have debuted with 3 or 4 goals, had 4 tackles and just kept presenting. Well done young fella.

Throw in the lizard, Campbell and Mills....its an impressive leg up and really helps build a list. Gold Coast will be very hard to beat soon with the same leg up.

should go for a few at least. I bet Collingwood would like to have kept Ginnivan and not get Schultz now. Hasn't looked like it this year. Time will tell.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear!

Congratulations Calsher. Like many others on here, I was a big fan of his dad. Very underrated and there is not much better than a premiership with the normie around you neck. If Calsher takes one strong mark, lays one strong tackle and kicks a goal, Id be absolutely rapt. If not, he has plenty...

    Preview Round 8, 2024 : Bulldogs v Hawks, 4pm 5th May, Marvel Stadium

Given our disappointing start to the season, I feel its time for Mitch to mix it up a bit. eg, we have no forward power and Sicily is way out of form. Perhaps move him forward. Bring Phillips in for cover, allow Serong time to develop and have Phillips, Serong and Scim as the tall defenders. I...

Rumour 2024 Hypothetical trade and FA Thread

so am I, however, I do worry about throwing money around recklessly just because we have some. Needs to be targeted and strategic. I have visons of Llyod Christmas handling money.

Autopsy Round 5, 2024 - Suns destroy hopeless Hawks

Agree. Or perhaps in the backline. We need to find out if he can play at the level before end of year. What is his contract status? At present, its doubtful he would be renewed if OOC at year end. He and Connor Mac don't look to have put on much strength since last year. They need to be...

Rumour 2024 Hypothetical trade and FA Thread

I have waited a while for the disappointment to subside after a truly awful performance last night. No point continuing to bash the team, so will look at the small positives, particularly for those not considered our elite. 1. Gold Coast are building very nicely chock a block with high end...

Game Day Round 5, 2024: Suns v Hawks, 7:30pm, People First Stadium

We are applying a lot of good pressure but getting no reward from the umpires. Should have several tackles rewarded. We don’t have the talent they have. Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn: Mitchell Lewis. Extended to 2026!

Lewis will bounce back. However, regardless of injury, he took the field in the first 3 games and has played like a player taken at the very end of the draft and lucky to be out there, let alone with a long contract. Emotions aside, this is hard to argue on present (2024) exposed form. Lewis...

Preview Round 5, 2024: Suns v Hawks, 7:30pm Sat 13th April, People First Stadium

Id make one change. HH out to get another good hit out at BH, and Serong as sub. If a midfielder goes down, Ward to the mid, Weddle to wing and Serong to backline. HH has plenty of time and I think Butler and Serong need opportunities to have a good crack. 3rd year in In the system for them...

Autopsy Round 4, 2024 : Hawks get Pied

There is a lot of talk questioning CMac and Weddle in this forum. I am not sure what the go is with Cmac right now. He has had an OK start to the season but quiet yesterday. What is clear to me however, is he has a lot of class and his big games are ahead of him. Weddle is obviously being...

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management 2024

I think that is a pretty good summary. However, after watching some of the young guns running around at North and others, I feel we still lack some really high end talent. It does seem we are destined for another bottom of the ladder finish, so i believe we need to go hard at the top of the...

Great young player. Bulldozing through the pack is not his go. Id love him at the Hawks and have no doubt he will be a great of the game barring injuries. Both D boys go really well. Super skilled

Autopsy Round 1, 2024: Hawks fail against Bombers

i have not seen anyone mention this yet, but i thought our tackling technique was very poor. Too many broken or missed tackles allowing * to thrust forward. Several of their goals came from missed tackles that good sides just don't allow. Compare us to swans or Carltons defensive tackle...

Funny thing. He is now 27 with all those years of strength and development into him. 25 to 28 yrs old does seem to be the sweet spot for top line consistency and peak. I hope our guys keep on the up, as it means 2026+ should be our era. Wishful thinking?

    Academies

First round picks is semantics. Sydney has 5 academy picks in their top 23 this year. Heaney, Mills, Gulden, Blakey and Campbell. That is a huge leg up in my eyes. Particularly when they can package picks and get two top 5 picks in a year (Campbell and McDonald)

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Pick 7, Cam MacKenzie, extends to 2026!

Butler obviously has talent and reports on how well he is training this preseason show he has desire and work ethic......but, I am yet to see anything outstanding (out of position?) which will get him a game unless we sustain more injuries ( so only by default). I too would like to see him...

List Mgmt. Hawk's List Management 2024

is there a ssp draft order? For example, if hawks make phillips an offer but north also make an offer (hypothetical), can he choose which club to go too or is it FIFS or the order of the draft. If say north offer first can he reject that and then accept a Hawk offer?

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Pick 37, Henry Hustwaite - Debuts against the Dees!

I have a feeling we will see Hust in side with in the first month and then be very hard to displace. He has a point of difference and will improve rapidly with game time IMO.. Don't ask me who he replaces as I have no idea.

Unofficial Preview Round 1, 2024: Bombers v Hawks, MCG 1:10pm Sat 16th March

I am not sure Mitchell is in the best 23 for now. Needs to get back to full training and show improvement, build on last year.. Don't underestimate Serong or Bailey Mac in that back line either. Gunners needs to be fit, but does offer so much to our forwards re experience and guidance. I wonder...
