There has been a fair bit of discussion across a range of threads about whether or not our defence can hold up in 2021. I thought that this debate was worthy of its own thread.
Some of the questions raised include:
- Do we have enough defenders who win the majority of their 1-1 contests?
- Are...
Most have been mentioned. For mine ...
Patrick Wiggins
Steven Koop
Andrew McDougal
Prized dutch cream:
Alistar Ford
Honourable mention: Simon Minton-Connell. Ok for the era - would not get a game today as was one of the most one dimensional players to grace the G. Could not mark above his head.
Could not see a game thread for the VFL. Hoping as an interstate supporter for some updates.

Go the scray!
I couldn't find a thread around this specifically. Be interested in our fellow members plans for the big day.

I'm finding it hard to move on from yesterday, so thought I'd start a thread to help.
This off season I plan to ... re-watch all 14 wins from 2015 to build excitement for 2016.
I think putting a finger on who the MC rate as our best 22 is challenging given that we've played 40 players and those who have been brought in have mostly performed well. For instance Prudden and Talia came in due to injuries, did well, then were also injured. Does Talia play in finals week 1...
Watching the young pups last tonight had me thinking about our previous generations prelim teams and whether in the future our current crop of 'potential' A Graders, have the ability to surpass the 97 and 09 batch (the two years where we came closest to at least reaching the big dance)
A...
With a new season about to kick off, I'm curious to see which teams fellow posters predict might climb a few rungs on the ladder and which teams might slide.
MO:
Climbers
Suns 12th to Top 8
Sliders
Tigers 8th to 10-12
Instead of a line-up I thought I'd throw in the old inside footy Top 30 (in order). Might give us a sense of how we might travel next year.
1. Liberatore
2. Murphy
3. Morris
4. Minson
5. McCrae
6. Crameri
7. Dahlhaus
8. M.Boyd
9. Bontempelli
10. Stringer
11. Picken
12. Roughhead
13. Wallis

Commentators on Wed were saying they thought 8 wins again for us in 2014 (but with more game time for the 2nd, 3rd year players ... McCrae, Stringer, Hrovat, Hunter, Smith, Talia etc) would be a better result than last year. Interested in predictions re: wins, ladder position for 2014? Our draw...
The recruitment of Crameri poses an interesting question for me. Can Crameri, Grant and Stringer (with Jones and maybe Campbell) play in the same forward line?
Key Stats
Crameri 25, 190, 95kg's
Grant 24, 192cm, 87kg's (wringing wet)
Stringer 20 (by season opener), 191cm, 92kg's
Are we trying...
It will be interesting to see what we dish up in 4 winnable games (maybe only start favorite in 1) to finish 2013.
We have:
Carlton (away)
Adelaide (home)
Brisbane (away)
Melbourne (home)
As Macca stated the team is chasing wins. I like this attitude. No real chance of gaining a place of the...
What to do with ...
Shaun Higgins, by end of season will have played 109 out of possible 180 - Aged 25
Tom Williams 76/130 (as of now) - Aged 26
Easton Wood 43/90 (as of now) - Aged 23
I'm not sure about recent history, but suspect they would be playing less than 50%. All are talented and...
Whilst there is a significant amount of information running through other threads on this topic, I thought it might be helpful to reflect on the NAB Cup, NAB Challenge and any Willi insights over the past month. For me:
Highlights
- Morris has shown that he can return to career best form
-...
I wonder if anyone has any inside insight into how Tom Campbell is developing at Willie? He is regularly in the best and on the 1 occasion he played in the P/S at Ballarat he was fantastic.
Roughie and Cordy are almost exactly 1 year older and have been in the 'system' for at least 2 years...
Interesting that he nominated for the draft. I wonder what sort of relationship he has with McCartney (and King)? Is he worth a stab with our last rookie selection? Are the odds of him committing fully better than a no. 60 odd rookie selection making it in what is considered a weak draft year?
With Harbrow gone and Wood injured, we need a creative BP to initiate attacks. Could Wallis or Libba fill this void, or is it too big a deviation from their normal roles? Gibbs has been eased into senior footy in a similar role. Griff as well. It would be a great way to get 8+ weeks of senior...
Are there stats on sides who get 3+ consecutive goals kicked against them? Is it just me, or does this happen to us on a regular basis, even during the last 3 years. It would be interesting to check this stat for Geelong, Collingwood and St Kilda compared with us for 2008, 09, 10.
Already...
4 lives picks (perhaps only 3 if Mitch accepts) ... who should we pick?
What are our needs? Tall defender? Outside mid? With experience or rookie (by definition)? Willi rookie? Rampe? Little?
So far we are obviously also considering Barlow and Hughes. Is anyone else on the radar? Rumors...
