Strong intercept player both aerially and ground level.
Dual sidedness with good efficiency on both sides of his body.
Defensive/Forward
versatility.
We have committed to picking him up from very early in the season.
JMO.
Phillips replaces Smith CJ is a long turm replacement for Henderson..
CJ is not going anywhere in my opinion his got a lot of X-Factor which we desperately need in the side, and once he gets it all together he'll be a special player.
Totally agree..!
Tom Phillips will be a very good pick up for our club on and of the field.
He comes across as a quality person and an honest young man with maturity beyond his age, and with all the right attributes needed for building an maintaining a good culture in our footy club.
Future...
My apologies
It was a bit of a technicality.
There have been many greats that have played for the HFC, but some have achieved legendary status, not only for our footy club but for the game itself.
True??
Maybe Breust will drop off one day soon..
But Gunston on the other hand who is very likely to be our captain from 2021 and beyond is on another level, he is a true professional and looks to me like he's only getting better, Gunston's consistency especially in what was a difficult year for the...
Rumour has it that not only did we pick up Phillips at a bargain with pick 65, hawks are only paying $350,000 per season out of his $600k contract a year.
If this is true we've struck gold hear.
Great inside and a very well researched clip, from a couple of very keen blues supporters on Tom Phillips over his last few years, and were realy keen on Tom to end up at the Blues.
Yes he's down and out in every way, down on confidence in his body been one of his bigest downfalls, i feel sorry for the guy but his just one more serious injury away and its all over for Patton his AFL season, if not his courier.
We definitely need a
mature age recruit on the cheap in...
Tom Phillips has been flying under-the-radar and will become an elite AFL wingman if he's not all ready at 24.
Phillips has played 89 games for the Pies, with the 24-year-old's hard running and aerobic engine making him one of the game's leading wingmen in 2018-19.
Has averaged 25 disposals...
Can we maybe see a late minute hawthorn swoop of Philips, Stevenson and Tom McDonald aftet getting squeezed out on the cheap.
Now that's official that Ben Brown's deal is done with Melbourne, surely they have to off-load McDonald on the cheap, the will not be able to keep them both on...
In 2018 Collingwood demolished Essendon on Anzac Day, Phillips amassed 38 disposals — his third haul of 30 or more in the first six rounds of 2018 — 11 contested possessions, nine marks and 409 metres gained in the Magpie’s loss to Richmond.
He ended up as one of Collingwood's best players in...
Tom Phillips is another of this good type of human beings, going out of his way to help and care for the unfortunate people in this world, it says a lot about this young men.
Clarko loves this type of players like Hartigan and Phillips on a the list, its a very nice ingredient for the...
Full Highlights of Adam Treloar against the hawks 36 disposals 2 goals in round 23 2016
There are quite a few times in this clip that Treloar and Phillips combine well together, one beautiful piece of play between them was at the 1.50 minute mark were a nice goal was kicked by Treloar.
So...
Hello my old friend, here we go again this is like deja vu from back in the day we picked up Ricky Henderson and look at how that turned out.
I would have thought after that experience that you'd have changed your mind a bit towards putting more faith in the recruiting of our club.
PS To you...
Treloar can win a lot of the ball but hasn't got the ability to realy hurt a lot of sides on the score board as a midfielder which is what we need.
As long as Jaiydn Stephenson and Tom Phillips can fall our way which both are exactly what we need. Stephenson is a very good small forward and...
And top of this mess, its just been reported that they apparently have emerged as the front runners to land Tom MacDonald.
This will be intresting.

If Ben Brown does end up at Melbourne, it releases Tom MacDonald maybe he's our target as a forward??
I hope thats the case i always liked his endurance and versatility for a big man.
Ben Brown is one of the best leading forwards that knows how to use his height to provide a good target and take a strong mark which we are seriously lacking at the moment, his also a good kick for goal.
With butter fingers O'Brien and while Mitch Lewis continuous to develop, and Patton is...
Personaly i would have loved Ben Brown at the hawks for 2021 and beyond as a David Hale replacement, and he definitely would have been worth spending some of that money on.
How many 27 year old, 200cm key forwards are available this days who have almost won the Coleman Medal for the league's...
I agree with you, he just looks to me like his aware of his surroundings and he knows how to position himself with his gut running (unlike other wingman/forwards) at put himself at the right place at the right time for a goal assist or kick one himself.
Phillips was one of Collingwood’s best...
Maybe he didn't like the fact that we were showing intrest to bring in another younger winger, like maybe magpie Tom Phillips on a 3 plus year deal and on more coin.
I also hope he stays, but if Isaac decides to leave the club, I think we should be targeting magpie winger/forward
Tom Phillips as a replacement.
Phillips was named the AFL Rising Star nominee for round 9 of the 2017 season, after gathering 24 disposals in Collingwood's comeback win over...
Lets not forget that we still have a 27 year old at 198cm 104kg Michael Hartley as a keyDefender on our list to help out if need be, and from what ive seen of him in his limited time in the side this year, looked more than capable in defence.
Hartigan also impressed in Round 12, 2019 against GWS, keeping Geelong's latest wannabe a super star,
Jeremy Cameron and eventual Coleman Medal winner that year to just one goal...:thumbsu:
