Team is up!
IN: Kreuzer, Polson and JSOS
OUT: Casboult, Lobbe, Setterfield (suspended)
Schumacher and Kennedy are emergencies along with Casboult and Lobbe.
I'm a bit worried about the Setterfield deal. Even though he nominated us, couldn't he be convinced to go to * if * want him and GWS feels like it will help facilitate the Shiel deal?
I don't think Gold Coast would do that. If we finish 16th and get pick #3, that only values Martin at pick #22. If we finish 15th, that values him at pick #29.
You're right, that's why I said it's just PR. However, I get the feeling that he may enjoy the challenge of it and working in a new environment as well. I obviously don't know him as well as you guys would, so maybe I'm wrong and it is just because of the money, but he doesn't seem like that...
I know it's just PR, but he had an interview with the Carlton website which kind of explains it:
http://www.carltonfc.com.au/video/2018-10-09/russell-what-ill-bring-to-blues
It seems like he genuinely likes the challenge and task of helping struggling sides move up the ladder.
It's time to whip out the bat-signal!
barass70, ericpascoe, TheRedPill, Electric Blue, StandByyourMan, tencentpiece, Marc Shmurf 3, reg_lower91, Waite_30, 90N90S, we need you now, more than ever!
Just for some perspective, wasn't the trade we wanted for Gibbs in 2016: Pick #13 and McGovern? We instead got pick #10 + #16 in 2017. Points wise, this would suggest that McGovern in the 2016 trade was valued at about pick #13, which is exactly what we just paid for him (+ McAdam, but we also...
Sadly, I agree. It may very well be that we only get McGovern, Setterfield and Fasolo this trade period.
Fremantle said they won't take Brisbane's pick 4 from this draft, so unfortunately, I doubt our 2019 first would get it done either. I'd go for Tyson as well, but it's being reported that...
Neale - Could be possible, but we'd have to overpay. He may not be willing to come to us.
Wingard - Seems to be set on Hawthorn or Western Bulldogs.
Tyson - It's being said that North will get him.
Scully - Possibly? If we don't trade our 2nd/3rd rounder in the McGovern trade, we could use next...
Interesting... so I guess if we trade our future 3rd and get Adelaide's future 2nd in return, that 2nd could then be traded to GWS for Setterfield? However, that would rule out us trading our future 1st, so I guess we aren't getting any "big fish" this trade period.
I'm not really getting the hate for Fasolo either. He may not defend that well, but surely after losing Wright we need another small forward to replace him? We could've taken McAdam instead, but we don't know how he'll perform at AFL level.
Agreed! Also, there was some concern about your whereabouts. Some thought that SOS traded you, others thought the Adelaide board kidnapped you. I'm glad to know neither of those occurred. :P
Shiel chose Essendon and we have a trade done for McGovern (not officially, but Barass, EP and TRP all pretty much confirmed it). The deal is:
Both of our second rounders, McAdam and our 2019 5th round for McGovern and Adelaide's 2019 3rd round.
A lot of posters went mad because we didn't get...
Nooooo EP, we need you! :'( Regardless, thank you for your work and for always giving us reliable info. It's really appreciated and for a lot of us, it's one of the highlights of our trade period.
You guys just made EP leave, dammit.
So do we have any backup plans for getting midfielders in the 23 - 27 age range? Or is it likely that McGovern, Setterfield and Fasolo will be all we get in this trade period?
I'm straight, but I still appreciate his moustache. I think it's too early in his career to be critical of it Runnin Blue. If you give him a few more years, I'm sure you'll like it more. It may not be the best in it's current state, but there's obviously a lot of potential there.
