Yes there is a big difference between the 'no where land' list Noble inherited and where we will be in 18-36 months in terms of high end talent.
5 years down the bottom - and the number one pick again this year - means by definition we will have a good core of 8-10 high end players - maybe 12...
Long way to go with LDU - especially if we were to pick up Smilie at the end of the year and we also move Sheez into the mids.
LDU would then see a nicely balanced midfield group that would allow himself to flourish.
At the moment it is pretty much all on LDU - and that clearly isn't sitting...
Jeebuz - what has happened in this thread?
1. Our list is so strong we only need 5 changes at year end?
2. Eddie Ford should be delisted?
Let's be clear - there will be between 8-12 list changes at year end AND Eddie Ford won't be one of them.
Important part of a revamped back 6 for us in 2025.
B. Hardeman K Dawson Logue
HB. Bergman Chom Goater
Archer/W Dawson will be the 7th defender.
This is a completely different backline to what we have had to put out this year. It has the right balance of size, defensive mindset and skill/ball...
Was very good in the VFL last week - excellent run and carry and good foot skills.
Good voice as well, very confident.
This promotion was probably earlier than he thought would be the case but it is well deserved and we need his skillset.
Let me tell ya something ...it's not, not even close. We had a really good sized crowd for the Hawthorn game - members turned up - the players didn't and they haven't done so for a long time now.
Well all the talk of us having the toughest draw in the competition, how could we expect to cope ....it's so unfair...
All teams have now played 6 games - we have played 3 against teams in the 8 and 3 who are not ...and we have our next 2 games against 15th and 13th respectively.
So despite...
Well its 8 weeks until our next home game at Marvel - against Collingwood. Yes, 8 weeks between home games in Melbourne.
It will be interesting to see where things are at by that stage - player wise and supporter wise.
Will be most interested to see how our senior players perform today - LDU, LMac, Jy, Corr, CZ and Larkey. If they all play well we should be be able to beat a Hawthorn team that is missing 6/7 players through injury.
However if these senior players let us down as a group then the Hawks could...
It was a really good 1 hour session - not too much training given it was a captain's run but the players and coaches were very accessible, chatty and friendly. Wardlaw trained without and hindrance so clearly the spare for tomorrow.
A good initiative by the club.
Off to Box Hill oval now for...
If we are offering up LDU then the Saints would need to offer more than draft picks - we would de demanding a top rated player, a young player and a draft pick in return. And I am not talking about Mason Wood, Jimmy Webster and a 3rd rounder. But I am talking a
Darcy Wilson, Josh Battle and a...
We are no younger or less experienced than Hawthorn (or the Gold Coast).
We won't be able to use that 'reality' this week.

Correct - we won't be sacking Clarko - we can't afford to financially (or non financially) after what we have been through in the past 5 years.
'Bye bye Clarko' to me refers to Clarko 'sacking' us ie if things continue as they are through to the bye next year there will be a carefully...
Yes - and that blasé attitude from Clarko needs to stop this week.
He needs to make it clear that this week there are no excuses for a poor performance and nothing is off the table.
And we should expect to see some glimpses of the tactical genius that Clarko possessed at Hawthorn.
Let's see...
Playing Hawthorn has potentially come at the right time for us and Clarko.
We should all be expecting a 'play like it's our grand final' type of effort this week and that is how Clarko needs to be treating it and he needs to be setting the example on the training track, in media interviews and...
Yours is a scenario that may well play out.
The other scenario is that we are a young squad that should see natural improvement. We have a highly respected coach that other clubs players will want to play for so once we show some improvement we should be able to attract a few of them. Young...
The issue is whether Clarko is making us suck less - that is where the jury is out.
By this time next year we will have a pretty good idea of what coaching prowess he has brought to the club.
Which Dawson? Maybe best to keep it flexible for the back half on '24 but from '25 onward we will be needing an initial....and it will be likely starting with W. K Dawson will be a good 7th defender however and still in the team.
Unless Phillips gets a look in soon - either on the back of some dominant VFL performances or a succession of injuries to our current mids - then it is going to be too late for him.
I still can't fathom that Clarko isn't playing him - especially after Laz missed last week - but the fact that...
The midfield set up is just not working - which is disappointing given how much we have invested in this area. The individuals are good players but the mix is all wrong.
Starting midfield next year needs to be LDU, Smillie and Sheezal - explosiveness, big body and class respectively...
That would be some multi - 100 to 1 odds to win the first 5 of those games. It would be 500 to 1 if you include Saints or GCS in Darwin as your 6th game.
You could win alot of money if you truly thought we were going to win those games.
Jy is playing like a busted ass - either he is still feeling the impact of repeat concussions - and therefore should be rested for a month or whatever it takes - or he is playing as imposter captain. Let's work out which it is pretty quickly.
