Not too long to go now.
Who's going to play the first test in Brisbane?
I have 8 players inked in (pending fitness)
Rogers
x
Watson
Clarke
Smith
x
Haddin
Siddle
Harris
x
Lyon
For me these questions need to be answered:
Who's going to partner Siddle & Harris?
Johnson and Hilfenhaus...
Ok, so the ashes are now over.
Pick your alltime best squad (from players you have seen) to tour to England for a fully fledged ashes series.
Keep your squads to 17 and pick your starting XI for the first test with remaining 6 squad members. Also state when you started watching cricket...
seeing everyone is criticising the FTP etc i thought i'd come up with a model.
i think everyone's main beef is with the inequality of the current one.
this is a 5 year cycle based on 11 test nations (in this exercise i have granted ireland test status).
i have also done a 4 year cycle based...
it's a fairly safe bet to say that M.Clarke will be the next aussie to play 100 tests (next summer during the ashes, all going well).
but who after that?
mr cricket is retiring after playing 79 consectitive tests after the age of 30 - great effort !
next on the list is johnson who is...
With the TV series "Howzat" upon us I thought I'd ask for everyone's best Aussie test XI since the end of WSC.
I'll start with mine:
M.Hayden
M.Hussey
R.Ponting
G.Chappell
A.Border
S.Waugh
A.Gilchrist
S.Warne
J.Gillespie
D.Lillee
G.McGrath
I think they all pick themselves with probably...
we talk about how players can play until late 30's or 40 these days but the facts are once a player has his 36th birthday and is still playing, there ain't much in the tank.
players since the end of WSC to play at age 36 onwards:
TESTS:
33 S Waugh
31 A Border
17 S Warne
17 M Waugh
14...
ponting or g chappell ?
only s waugh, border, hayden and m hussey average over 50 in test cricket.
ponting ave 52.50 (as it currently stands) over 156 tests including 39 tons.
g chappell ave 53.86 over 87 tests including including 24 tons.
*g chappell also played 17 unofficial tests and...
Would you let your partner take pics of the 2 of you (and i aint talking happy snaps around a table at a wedding or something either) ?
Would like to get peoples thoughts and if they have done so etc and details, afterall this is the place to come.
I can then make an informative decision...
apologies in advance if this thread has been done before, but there are so many music charts out and about, so i thought i'd compile a top 100 of best songs to get down and dirty with.
a top 100 is essential if ya wanting to last the distance and go all night.
i'm sure some of you...
home summer
11/12 new zealand (2)
11/12 india (4) (already in previos fixtures)
12/13 south africa (3)
12/13 sri lanka (3)
13/14 england (5)
14/15 india (4)
14/15 world cup
15/16 new zealand (3)
15/16 west indies (3)
16/17 south africa (3)
16/17 pakistan (3)
17/18...
ok down to what we've all been waiting for.
the 8 expected teams made the quarters.
doesn't matter what's happened in the past the facts are win 3 in a row from here and the world cup is won.
who is best placed to win from here.
*india have all games from here at home in front of...
Mike Hussey:
Time to announce his retirement in the test arena.
The time is right, he's can go out on his terms rather than be pushed. The start of the last 2 aussie summers people on here have called for his head. This now gives him a chance to go out on top of his game.
I have no...
We've now played 40 tests since the warne retirement.
As a team they've done ok winning 20, losing 12 and drawing 8
(and haven't played bangladesh or zimbabwe in that time).
Now we were never going to replace warnie overnight, but with all the talk about him making a possible comeback...
with katich out for the remaining 3 tests and our next test series both away in sri lanka and south africa in august-september there's every chance he's played his last test.
he'll be 36 come august (and yes i know its hard to win in sri lanka and south africa) but surely we now need to...
in: voges, s smith, paine, r harris, mckay
out: d hussey, hodge, manou, s clark, bracken
NSW: m clarke, hughes, katich, watson, haddin, s smith, hauritz, bollinger, lee
WA: s marsh, m hussey, voges, north, johnson
VIC: white, mcdonald, mckay, siddle
TAS: ponting, paine, hilfenhaus
QLD...
picking the team for the 1st test seemed the hardest thing for the selectors this summer.
the only change from the 5th test in england was s.clark out for hauritz.
from that point i had a feeling not much would change in the team over the summer as i thought the aussies would win both...
Ponting has been about for awhile now.
the more he plays the more records will tumble.
Surely our greatest bat since bradman or is he still behind G.Chappell?
how many more of these records can he break?
5th most tests - 140 (steve waugh 168)
8th most odi's - 330 (jayasuriya 444)...
if we had quota's like south africa etc in the past and had to pick 2 players from each state to form a test squad of 12 how would your side look?
it must be a balanced side too.
just goes to show how hard it'd be and what quality players would be left out.
here's mine:
C.Rogers (VIC)...
that time of year again.
looking for 8-10 interested people in playing again.
rules for the new season will be explained and voted upon when numbers are finalised.
*note: if interested you will need to be about regularly over the next 3 weeks while draft is taking place. if you can't...
since the retirement of the great warne and mcgrath:
*have played 26 tests for a win/loss record of 12-8 and 6 draws.
(home 7-3 and a draw/away 5-5 and 7 draws)
*have won 5 test series and lost 3
the aussies had the front running in the first 2 tests v south africa last summer and...
surely michael clarke has this years AB medal in the bag.
for me he'll win the test player of the year (ahead of katich, ponting & johnson).
with only 6 one dayers before the vote count, for me clarke has enough of a lead unless ponting or m hussey come out and absolutely dominate in these...
Replacing these 2 champs was never going to be easy.
Since their retirements we've won 8 tests, lost 5 and drawn 4.
(ponting's captaincy record has gone from 27-3-5 to 35-8-9)
we've beaten sri lanka 2-0, new zealand 2-0 and india 2-1 all at home and west indies away 2-0.
we've lost...
Fantasy Cricket is back for 2009 but has been tweaked slightly for a variety of reasons based on the inaugral 2008 season.

The first 8 entries will be accepted.

*Each team is to have a...
