Interesting questions. If an Alex player was serving a suspension would this count as a week missed? Would this count as games played toward finals qualification for each player?
Hopefully Powelly get on the park this week
Life ban? I believe that comes after 16 weeks suspension.
Junior received his first suspension in 20+ years of senior footy last year thanks to a personal targeted social media campaign from an opposition club. He is far from a thug.
Hopefully the Alex player recovers fully and speedily...
I played all my juniors at Wesburn 2000-07. At that time the natural progression was toward Warby’s U/18’s as Powelly didn’t field them. Powelltown was kind of the alternate option for anyone and I feel like it has continued along that path essentially. I’m not sure how striking up a secondary...
I’m trying to think big picture. In the last 5 years Yea, Broadford, Thornton have all gone into recession. Hopefully not but potentially Powelly. This hasn’t helped anybody. If the trend continues the situation starts getting pretty dire.
could this option of one team per club be more sustainable for small towns? Omeo district has never had reserves I don’t think
local clubs survive and continue to provide an important active social outlet
Good luck to Yea this season. I don’t see the point in being pessimistic at this stage.
I was involved at Powelltown in 2007 when we were coming out of recession. Very hard to recruit players when they might take a phone call then hear on the grapevine we didn’t even have a team. It’s a shame to...
Well there you go. We must not have overlapped because both times I played against Warrandyte it was a good day. It was Powelly’s seconds vs Warrandyte’s 8ths I’m pretty sure
Yeah that’s probably a fair enough assessment from years ago but I feel Pedro and team have tried hard to improve things every season. We have never performed well in finals over the journey so we were probably reluctant to go up grades after being knocked out in semis or losing finals. The fact...
I’m very tempted to ask which rdca club you played for but I’ll resist.
As a Powelltown cricket player I found some teams that travelled the distance to Powelltown had their knickers in a knot when they arrived (North Ringwood for example were absolutely feral on arrival)
Most teams especially...
I won’t pretend to know how these decisions are made but I would be interested to compare how many applications were made by each sporting club.
I’m a former Powelltown footballer and recent cricketer. I know that plans and applications have been in the pipeline for at least 15 years. Again I...
I can’t see Powelly folding for what it’s worth.
Interesting question though. In 2022 Quambatook announced pre season that it would be their last season after battling for a long time. This produced a spike in interest including a few blokes who always intended to play a year at their Dads’ club...
I said nearly every box. Geographically it doesn’t suit now the participating football teams have been decided. Are you suggesting final venues be decided on the Monday?
No decision could have been perfect for everyone.
I get it’s inconvenient now but when the finals were allocated it could have been Alex vs yg in the seniors and Alex vs broadford in the twos. I’m not sure about netball.
Broadford are a part of our league with good facilities who are willing to host. Ticks almost every box
Yea have the advantages of junior teams, a long history, 3 netball teams and a league that is desperate for clubs and would probably allow 1 team for a year or two while they rebuild. Disadvantages of location and from a distance they don’t have core group of players to start with and build on...
I wonder if there would be room for a small, basic competition in this area? Similar to the Omeo comp. 1 open age team, 1 unders side with a wide age bracket. 2 netball teams. Maybe a shorter season. Better to see clubs survive in some form than fall over completely in my opinion.
Good luck to Yea this season. I don’t see the point in being pessimistic at this stage.

Footballers I think 2-5. Gilderoy and three bridges a few more.
Most volunteers are pretty local though. Could do worse than Marysville I think it’s a great spot. Are there netball courts there?
Sorry mate I thought u were joking. 1hr 7mins Powelltown to Marysville. Surely there would be a closer option?
Can anyone explain to me why warby didn’t play games at wessy 2017-2018
I’m pretty sure emerald hosted warby at Marysville due to ground works 5-6 years ago ? It sounds bizarre but there might genuinely be an opportunity there- powelly home game vs Alex at Marysville. Might make a bit more on the gate thanks to being closer to Alex plus the novelty factor for the...
