No.
Our forward line throughout the year was our only weakness until we got the balance right within the last month of the season heading into finals. Say what you want about Ben Brown but he's a proven 60 goal a year key forward for 3 years in a row. Had he not missed first half of the season...
Right..
So again, you're needing to rely on your first choice ruckman and a 0 gamers to be your 2nd key forward?
Membrey is a great player and has done exceptionally well for an undersized forward. But is it enough to take the pressure of Max King
I know missing out on King is deeply hurting...
Hasn't he just started up a podcast with Adam Treloar?
You're not going to start a project up if in the back of your head you know you're leaving at the end of the year.
Then again it is Josh Dunkley and who knows what advice his obsessive old man is feeding him.
Tomlinson has done a full pre season, several intra club trial games and 2 pre season games.
How much more does he need to show?
He's cherry ripe ready to go.
Lol.. the blokes you were playing in the next game were mostly fringe and young players. You had your best side playing majority of the game.
I'm well aware that Steele was tagged. That's why he was pretty much your best player and hence why I said he played a great game.
While he was tagged...
Steele and Cripps both had good games for each of their clubs. Jones was also good for the Saints. Besides that, the rest were ordinary. I've already mentioned a few comments above that the likes of Crouch, Byrne's and Clark were simply all poor.
Compared to Carltons mids who had better output...
Yeah nah I did.
I expected this typical kind of response. We all have those supporters who struggle to take off the rosy coloured glasses.
A midfield of Crouch, Jones, Steele and Ross arent going to challenge anyone.
Happy to revisit this come end of year.
Watched the game last night on Kayo.
Injuries are certainly not ideal for them and I think for the first time in years we'll see their lack of depth exposed this year.
Think it's going to be a long year for the Eagles. Bottom 5 beckons you'd think.
With all due respect Aussie I think you make some really good points and I also take into account that covid has impacted development across the league.
My concerns still remain the same and that is the lack of midfield depth and the pressure this places on Steele.
I watched majority of the st...
Yes.
Had Petty not gone down few weeks back with injury Tommo would have to fight his way back through Casey.
But its looking likely now that Tomlinson has round 1 sewn up.
What's having a first choice ruck got do with Crouch being slow and a bit of a plodder? Or Ryan Byrne's butchering the footy? Same as Hunter Clark who was pretty underwhelming yesterday as well.
Just have concerns that a lot of the grunt work will be left solely on Steele. No one really put...
I saw and experienced hell during the Neeld years...
I sympathise with any team that have experienced some recent s**t times.
Except for Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon. I hope they rot down the bottom 4 for eternity.
All good points except Petty is ahead of Tomlinson and is easily in our best 22. Petty was able to shut down Hawkins in last year's preliminary final, which shows why he's highly valued by the coaching staff
Had Petty not gone down injured the other week Tomlinson would not have played...
No it's definitely not.
But they had a first year player in Paul Curtis who showed far more and was pretty exciting across half forward. I really took notice of his display today.
Charlie Lazzaro was another who showed some really exciting traits and was willing to take the game
Jason Horne...
