This is the thing about free agency players want all the freedom to move clubs, but they don't think they need their own doctors and need to get their own opinions. Players think they will just get more money and the clubs should and would look after them in every case, nah, clubs might have...
More of a homesick thing I think. He has the premierships, wants to go home and play with his brother and live near his other family members. With Fremantle looking to be active in the market and them knowing Hill wants to go, it will be interesting to see what we get. Probably unders he is...
So many times Sydney players were subtly holding our men running for the ball when they didn't have it and none were paid. Even then I realised I probably had Hawks goggles on with them.
I don't think we have gone though the players fast enough, too many Veterans, needed to cull 1 or two more. At least bring them in for development.
Draft Daniel Rioli and we will be ok.
Darn, shoulda done my research, draft time is stressful when you have 2 minutes to pick and someone takes the ruck option you wanted about 3 picks before yours. Much different than SC or AFL Fantasy.
I'm in a draft league and picked up Hamish McIntosh with a strategy of not picking up a ruck too early and he was rated as Geelong's number 1 in pre-draft ranking. Is there any danger of him getting a game this year without injuries to Blicavs or Simpson?
You do know the club you pay a membership to puts prescription drugs in the players hands? One to get them amped up for a game and then another set to get them down at the end. Grant Hackett had a stillnox addiction for a reason, they were standard for athletes at his level.
Also the pressure...
From what is being said on here, the more they interview him the less likely they will take him, on attitude and all that. Logically then he's coming to Hawks. ;-)
I think Lake is a massive inclusion and I reckon he has been invaluable down there to the younger guys in mentoring.
I think we are good, not number 1 in true defence but probably one of the best balances. Lake is good but need a taller backman for the last piece.
Stratton to step up even...
I'd take Mitchell based on career on talent it probably has to be Crawford. It really depends what team you have around both of them. Crawford in his peak through the team with Roughie, Buddy, Lewis and the rest. His disposal could let him down at times but he had an epic tank.
It's like any haggling and bartering, when you think you hold the chips you see what you can get, when the tables turn you will take what you can get.
Human nature.
Compensation should last until all contracts and signings have been done under the FA system. Purely because all players aren't available for us to chase, we get 1mil of useless cap space because there are a limited number of FA available. But I agree compensation should be scrapped, eventually...
Interesting to see that Savage was our pick for a break-out season, shows how we may have rated his ability and chance to improve. Gotta remember that its always a different perspective than from inside the club though.
I think as supporters definitely yes, in reality its hard to win premierships, its even harder to win back to back.
As much as I love what we did with bringing in Brian Lake, he seems like the kind of player to maybe let himself go, without the motivation. He has done it all, he slimmed down...
I think Sydney was planning for a cash out on the end of his contract, the COLA to go on 5ever and the inevetable salary cap increase. But in the end it took the AFL to call their all-in bluff. You think it was only the AFL taking time to approve the Buddy deal, Sydney were doing the sums again...
Yeah that's a fair point, but the cap management should not be that hard, if we have a million free we should be able to save it to go after someone in the next free agency period. Maybe we want to front end or back end structure for a run at 2015 but we should have the freedom to choose either way.
