Roast Geelong can't develop young players

The last 5 players that Geelong drafted who weren't mature age to make the AA 40 man squad were: Blicavs (2011) Guthrie (2010) Motlop (2008) Selwood (2006) Hawkins (2006 - F/S) 5 players in 17 years, none for 13 years, all while they've been contending for finals so more likely to have AA...

Roast Geelong can't develop young players

How is top 10 selective? It's pretty standard to go to 10 and the list on your website only goes to 10. Ironically, saying top 7 like you want would be selective.

Roast Geelong can't develop young players

Every team has at least a couple of young players they've developed who look good. You're not special in that respect and calling out a couple of individual performances by young players doesn't mean you're better than other clubs at developing players. Of your B&F top 10 last year, only 3...

Roast Geelong can't develop young players

Seems to be Cats supporters response to people not rating their thin list of young players isn't to argue that the list is actually very good (because it's obviously not), but instead point to a blind belief that because they've done it before, they'll do it again. 🤡🤡🤡

Roast Geelong can't develop young players

Plenty of Cats supporters in this thread getting ahead of themselves after a small sample size of games. 🤡

Good to see you're not getting ahead of yourself over the result of 1 game... 😆

Roast Geelong can't develop young players

Thats very weak towards the end of your cats list, whereas you've convieniently missed a lot of hawks players from that list...Nash, McKenzie, Meek, McCabe (1st round pick), DGB, Mitchell, etc Your list u25 is thin and doesnt have a great number of potential A graders, understandably so give...

Please....not even the most one eyed Cats supporter could seriously say they'd take your mob u24 ahead of ours.

    Traded Jack Ginnivan [Traded with #39, F2 & F4 to Hawthorn for #33, F2 & F3]

Awfully nice of Collingwood to upgrade our 2nd pick this year in exchange for taking Gini off their hands.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn: Ethan Phillips. 2024 SSP.

Does anyone know what the knock is on him? Looks to be a great pick up... athletic, tall, has shown a fair bit in the VFL, however passed over by all 18 clubs the last 2 drafts?

Who will be 2024's most disappointing/under performing team (home and away season)

I think Essendon will be the most under performing team, but it will be anything but disappointing.

Flags won in the digital television era

Disagree... Bird mascots are clearly superior given they are greater in number. Although, we should exclude any birds which turn into swooping pricks for 6 weeks of the year, to protect the children from such things. Thus: Hawks 13 Swans 5 Eagles 4 Crows 2

They're getting rid of the 3 screen package all together. From Feb, it will only be 1 and 2 screen options, with the 2 screen now the same price as what the 3 screen was. Campaigners.

Players weights to no longer be disclosed

Who really cares about players weights? Should we have their IQ and the size of their wang up as well?

Who'll be the next club to fall off their cliff?

Yeah, who wants to actually see their team win a flag. I much prefer having my great grandad tell me about the 10 he saw when he rode to the ground on his horse and cart.
  18. WatWouldCyrilDo

Who'll be the next club to fall off their cliff?

What would you rather... your club having 5 flags in total but you've been alive to see all of them, or having 20 flags but none in your lifetime (and many of them before the advent of video recording)?

Who'll be the next club to fall off their cliff?

I'm sure the 1906-1908 threepeat is up there with your favourite memories. Or maybe the B2B 1914-1915?

Who'll be the next club to fall off their cliff?

Use your own B&F results if you want ( although im not sure 7th and 10th in a B&F is the big deal you think it is), but it doesn't change the fact that none of those players would be considered A graders, except like I said for Stengle in 2022 (funnily enough the only AA player you listed)...
  22. WatWouldCyrilDo

Who'll be the next club to fall off their cliff?

Geelong has some good players in the 24 - 27 age range, but other than Stengle of 2022, none of them are A grade talent who would be capable of replacing your 30+ players to the same level. O'Connor's, Bowes, Hardie, Parfitt, Z Guthrie, Close, Stengle, Miers is an extremely underwhelming list...

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

LOL you're trying so hard. Hawks still living rent free given all those times we beat you by 60-100+ in recent times?
  24. WatWouldCyrilDo

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

Adelaide had 4 more wins than Hawthorn. Hawthorn had 4 more wins than North. Hawthorn lost to Adelaide by 3 points. Hawthorn beat North by 19, then 44 points. North had 1 win in the last 21 rounds of the season. While Adelaide were better than us, you undersell just how crap North are. We are a...

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

I was referring to the list of players "both similar unknown quantities with massive potential". Ramsden isn't mentioned there either - trying to keep it based on exposed form of what's been seen, either at junior level or AFL.

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

Noted on Dawson and Maley - will update. While George is rated highly internally, he was pick 26 and has played a total of 0 games. Ramsden is rated extremely highly internally by our coaching staff but I didn't include him in that list either.

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

Anyway, back on topic. Given the lists have been finalised for 2024, thought it would be good to do an actual comparison of the teams by line. Below includes all players 24 and under, and I have largely used the Position listed on Footywire for each player so may well have some of the lesser...

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

No, a four game sample where he got 23,22,25 and 22 touches definitely shows he's one of the best inside/outside players in the league.

Which team out of Adelaide, North and Hawthorn has the better youth? Part 2

You'd likely be the only one picking Thomas ahead of Day.
