    Jim Stynes

Stynes paved the way for future international recruits, especially the Irish. He was good enough to win a Brownlow, something that no international recruit has done since. For my money, he is the best of that bunch so far.

    New powerhouse emerges in Europe

I think the majority of the GB side this year were from traditional "BARFL" clubs, rather from ARUK league clubs. Although there were a couple of guys there from ARUK's welsh league I think. I don't quite get the GB side I have to say. It has a weird selection strategy. There weren't really...

    Australia v ROTW

I'm not sure you'd have had more than half that number if you had been pulling the list together 10 years ago. The professional game has undoubtedly expanded internationally to some degree (albeit it small comprative to other sports) and Ireland/GAA has played a big part in this. It will...

    Breaking international footy news

Agreed, I thought he was a little old for this type of stunt but clearly not. Not what I would call "putting the game first". Here are 2 international footy news sites: http://www.worldfootynews.com/ http://globalfootynews.blogspot.com/ Hmmmmm, I wonder which one is better regarded in...

AFL eyes Ireland for Celtic team

Who wants a "themed" footy team? This is professional football, not a Disney resort... Daft idea.

    2008 EU Cup

Doubt it. A bit far for me to travel! Doubt you'll get many other people either if you keep switching dates! :D Which teams have entered this year so far?

    2008 EU Cup

When did the date of this event change?? It was originally in the first week of October but the website says its going to be in the 2nd week of October? Who dropped the ball?! Hopefully this isn't going to muck up any teams plans to get there. How many sides have entered this...

Could International Footie become bigger than International RL?

With the right backing, there is no doubt it can become bigger than RL internationally. RL takes less players and is played on more accessible rectangular parks, but the game itself is seen as being so brutal, and one dimensional, that it is less appealling to the newcomer than Aussie Rules is.

    Mickey Mouse footy to return

International Rules is what it is - a bit of fun if played in the right spirit, and a way to back your country in a modified version of our sport. No more, no less. Glad to see it back.

U16 League kicks off in London

Don't knock the creation/expansion of junior footy programmes. That is the real key to the future of the game at an international level.

    Pacific nations bemoan AFL neglect

The AFL will pay lip service to this. They may have appointed this Cadzow guy to overlook the region, but they continue to rely on people doing the hard work for free before committing serious resource and support. The AFL have thrived on exploitation of our love of the game for a bit too...

    Women's match in London

Hold on a second, I thought you hate International Rules? Why are you now organising a game of it? Do you now agree, as I have suggested in the past, that it is a useful tool in developing international footy?

    AFL Britain website

The site looks like it will be a vast improvement on the old site when it is finished. The key will be to make sure that the content is updated regularly and is kept informative and relevant. Looking forward to seeing it once it starts to fill up with content.

    AFL Britain website

Cheers Suffolk Lad, interesting stuff. The guys involved in running this are all barfl guys from what I can make out. I remember hearing that Clarkey would be used to run a small junior program under the AFLB banner to keep him quiet. Not aware of him having any formal committee or...

    AFL Britain website

The site doesn't seem to include information on anything other than England, and English sides. Are Wales and Scotland not involved in this new body? Clarkey, you say "we" in your post. However the site does not mention you as being part of the committee. What is your involvement in AFL...
