Opinion Non-Crows AFL 11: Succession plans and other lols

Yeah it was definitely a thing one off-season - I recall he either wanted too much or no one would go the other way

    Player Watch James Peatling

He's kind of a clearance mid in the same way Kane Johnson and Simon Goodwin were, in that they either get the ball directly from the tap or a Crouch/Berry/Soligo and one-step their way around a blockage to get the ball forward. It worked better for those players because they were surrounded by...

News Farewell, and thank you for your service thread

Hamill stiff considering the lack of run we have from HB and some of his games this year. Gollant felt like he was one more big pre-season from being a solid option but hard to fit him in the side. Ned and Parnell back to the chocolate factory.

St Kilda President Andrew Bassat tees off on the AFL draft system, specifically father/son and the Northern Academies

You can't make it fair, so I say make it interesting. Change it back to clubs matching bids with some random 3rd round pick, until every club has been able to secure one Daicos or GAJ level of superstar player, then once this is done, it changes back to clubs having to hoard a billion points to...

Player Watch Mark Keane - Signed to End of 2028

He's 24 and he's only been playing the game for a handful of years. All the Irish players get better with time and a lot play well into their 30s also. If he stays fit and continues to improve whilst maturing and limiting his mistakes, we haven't seen his ceiling as yet.

Phil Harper is the head of this committee, I believe the first draft was in WingDings.

News Jackson Hately requests trade to Adelaide

Hately was a pretty good overhead mark who didn't mind going back with the flight and was hard to move off the ball, so could have been a decent half-back/winger, if he could have kicked 10 meters further (or lower). Just never really got his disposal by foot to a standard that could damage...

As a Crow fan, how will YOU handle it if Port Power win the Flag this year?

I think with the Sydney one we were much further down at one stage before closing it up when it was too late to make a difference? Scott Stevens our BOG by a mile if memory serves.

    Player Watch Sam Berry

Carlton game where he came on as the sub was an all-time HOF sub performance, and he one-grabbed absolutely everything that night, so he can do it. I think it's a mental block and like many players, he benefits from a simpler game plan/style where he doesn't need to think about his disposals...

    Player Watch Sam Berry

If he had clean hands, the sky would be the ceiling for this guy. Under the roof at Marvel, he's a machine. On a slightly dewy evening anywhere from June to September, he's got worse hands than a T-Rex. I think he can still improve his skills with time but unless he develops a Jarman-esque...

Appalling coaching performance tonight. Absolute state league standard. Embarrassing in every aspect.

List Mgmt. Walker, Smith must retire or be retired. Immediately.

I thought Walker was absolutely gone in 2020 and then he got his body right and had a career season. I think he can still contribute next year, but he also hasn't chased down an opposition player since that tackle on Lewis Jetta at the SCG a decade ago. If he plays on, he basically has to be...

News Shane McAdam traded to Melbourne for F2

Looked like he had been shot every time he had to endure strong physical contact. If he'd stayed and played this year he would have likely kept Cook out of the team which would have been a net loss. Given he can't get his body right, F2 wasn't that bad in retrospect.

    Player Watch Josh Rachele

If Rankine is going to spend more time outside of the F50, it doesn't make sense to also play Rachele in midfield when he can be so potent up front. We have enough talent in the midfield that we keep shoehorning into playing high half-forward and it never works, so we should just leave this guy...

Strategy Who should be our next coach?

As much as I think Buckley wouldn't be the best choice, hiring a 'highly regarded' assistant in their first senior job won't bring us success, as good as whoever that is might be, simply because we need someone who can blow up the status quo of absolute mediocrity that has infested every level...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

The problem with being optimistic about that, is this is an action that it would make sense to take. Therefore, you can be 100% guaranteed the big-brain geniuses in our football department did not take said action when it was an option.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

He was cooked, well behind the pace of the game, and would have been just as much of a liability. How they thought that selecting him before he was ready, then subbing him early two weeks in a row to really make sure his morale was destroyed was a better idea than letting him build his tank...

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Curtin was just handing goals to his direct opponent, who has played exactly the same number of AFL games as he has, by getting caught out of position constantly. He is not ready for AFL football yet and definitely not ready to play in defence. Leaving him on would have only embarassed and...

Player Watch Ned McHenry - Delisted

He's not AFL standard but the problem is being exacerbated by our coaching staff, who seem to think he is a crucial cog in our high-pressure defensive strategy and want him to be 1000mph for 100% TOG, even though he just doesn't have the skills to execute at that intensity when he does get the...

Player Watch Luke Nankervis - Re-Signed to End of 2027

Absolutely critical in helping us move the ball from defense to F50 without bombing it long on so many occasions last night.
  25. ltdamn

    Player Watch Josh Rachele

I don't think this guy is actually a midfielder, he needs the ball to be coming to him rather than the other way around and is pretty non-damaging behind centre. Just let him be a forward, he's a decent shot at goal and good at finding space in the F50, which creates more room for others. He can...

Player Watch Ned McHenry - Delisted

I think we've all struggled to see where he fits into this side from day one, and given we have so many small mid/fwds already, he probably has to go so Berry and Pedlar can develop. Can't be in the same side as Murphy, they're too similar.

Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach (Part 2) - Full Support of the Board

Amazing what happens when you let the kids play in the middle and back them in. Great win but it really does shine a huge spotlight on how poorly the team was coached and selected for the first 4 weeks of the year.

    Player Watch Brayden Cook

To be fair to Cook, he spent 46% of the game off the ground for some reason, so it wasn't like he just went missing, he wasn't even on the park.
