Analysis Geelong Cats are preliminary finals chokers: Some hard truthes.

Sorry for the intrusion, but this needs a comment :) Agreed. Yep, spot on. Has always suffered from this, but you take his positives over his negatives all day long. Huh? Paddy is like the anti-DJarman. PD has explosive pace, brutal at the coal face. DJ was silk but never fast, elite football...

MRP / Trib. Hawkins 2 weeks, Duncan 1

Good luck for the remainder of the season guys and girls ... time for me leave. After posting some missing info about your club, I get called a troll and have posters throwing insults re: Tex and Sloane? :(

MRP / Trib. Hawkins 2 weeks, Duncan 1

Funny, it's mainly Geelong supporters that seem to see that one as an intentional strike. (Gerard Whateley was big on this) I don't see a player trying to strike high there, it looks to me like he is swinging at the upper arm and slips over his shoulder. Hawkins grabs a fistful of jumper and...

MRP / Trib. Hawkins 2 weeks, Duncan 1

I'm not sure the medical reports are a good thing at all. The injury sustained would have to pertain directly the action. So a player goes off concussed - that goes to the impact level. If a player is telling the doctor "it hurt where he punched me" and that is going into the report ... wtf? We...

MRP / Trib. Hawkins 2 weeks, Duncan 1

Which inconsistency are you talking about? Hawkins it was a 3rd strike - that's why he gets extra. Duncan's was right according to the evidence presented - should have been challenge down to LOW imo. Merrett got done for 1 game. If you are comparing these off-the-ball incidents to things like...

Only reason I came here was to check if you guys had appealed ... then went to AFL and saw the article. I was certain you'd appeal Duncan's charge. No way the impact was anything but LOW. Would have pretty easy to argue I would have thought, even with the Sydney medical report. Hawkins one was...

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-08/cats-accept-hawks-ban-may-appeal-mitchs THE AFL Tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night after all players accepted their bans from the Match Review Panel. Geelong accepted the two-game suspension handed to forward Tom Hawkins and the one-match ban given to...

News The Skipper booked for Speeding

I'm more of the opinion that AFL players are just people like you and me. That was the angle that was missed by TAC. Holding them up as better people seems really weird. Being All Australian Captain doesn't actually elevate his status as person :-) The opportunity for TAC was in the responses...

    Autopsy Round 8 - Geelong d Adelaide by 26

Congrats on the win guys. You have definitely gelled much quicker than I thought you would in 2016 - fantastic job by your coaching group. No way did I think you would be top 4 or a true premiership contender after so many changes to your line-up ... but the way you guys structured up behind the...

Oppo Camp 2016 non-Geelong match and general football (Australian Rules) discussion

I think we should all agree that the trade for Dangerfield was about as win-win as it was ever going to be. You got PD, nuff said. We basically got three good young prospects in Gore, Menzel and Milera in return - which as Ricciuto said yesterday "You need about 3 players to replace to...

List Mgmt. 2016 general list discussion and speculation (cont in Pt.2)

I think the problem you created was born from you saying "matching will not happen, we will get Dangerfield for ZERO!". If your position had been, "my mail is that Geelong are not expecting / planning for AFC to match" - I don't think anyone would have blinked an eyelid.

All that stuff is reasonable in the field of battle SC - as long as after the contest we can all act like adults and shake hands ... it's all good ;)

I look at it this way SC. Is pick 9, 28 and Gore worth more to Geelong than having to table a massive Godfather contract to one player? Abso-effing-lutely. Look what that sort of rubbish has done to the Swans with Buddy. It is really bad business IMO. Is pick 9, 28 and Gore worth more to...

Toast GREATNESS: Our Tradition, Our Ambition

Great stuff Nakia - I love sharing footy with my kids ... my 15 year old actually understands footy really well, and my 12 year old girl knows more about the AFL than most of the boys in her class. They both had good responses once PD was confirmed as leaving for Geelong ... along the lines of...

Toast GREATNESS: Our Tradition, Our Ambition

Did I read somewhere that the new Geelong tag line is "We're Coming"? #werecoming If so, it feels like a recycle of the Carlton one from a few years ago - and just seems like someone missed the other obvious problem with it. <EDIT> This is where I saw / heard it ...

Good trade in my book. Avoided the stupidity of the RFA stuff, which gives Geelong more flexibility to keep the contract where they want it. Geelong get PD without the risk of the draft, plus a pick that AFC had no use for ... that will be probably be used by Geelong this year. Adelaide get a...

Well then why did you ask why Dangerfield didn't play for the Crows in 2008? Did you not read your own post ??? <EDIT> Good work on the edit of your original post there, completely changing the question. From: "Can't find why Dangerfield didn't play with Crows in 2008 ???" To: "Can't find...

The 2007 draft is at the end of 2007 - ie after the 2007 season has ended. His first year on our list was the 2008 season, where he played a couple of games - as per your quote above.

Ahhh ... that door goes both ways. So are you saying that the AFC supporters who ignored the papers were crazy ... just like the Geelong supporters who don't want to listen now? For the record I thought PD was gone after about Round 15 - but I just didn't want the club to accept the compo pick...

Nah, I thought the idea was that it is not even going to be via Free Agency now? Just a straight out trade, so no offer to be tabled. Dangerfield is expected to bypass his rights as a free agent and cross to the Cats via a trade, which would likely mean Geelong giving up pick nine this year and...

Not yet he isn't. Do you believe in "club before player"? Or do you think that players are more important than the clubs? Of course it is in Geelong's hands as well as Adelaide's. Where did our club attack his family? FFS. That is just your position Mr Hashtag. You have taken a personal...

And will Geelong be acting in Dangerfield's best interest? I would hope so. Not organising a reasonable trade would be very ordinary, sending him to another club would be a low-act by your club - wouldn't it? I would say that all of the posters on BF saying that Geelong will hang AFC out to dry...

Yep - get a value of a player in the market in points - then charge the club receiving the player that cost ... and hand it to the team the player leaves from. The points can be made up by either draft picks or the receiving club can agree to trading players. If no trades are worked out, it is...

Um - why would AFC be "blocking his exit"? If no trade is done surely Geelong would have had a hand in that outcome? I believe both parties will move towards the middle because of the type of person Danger was when in Crow's colours - and will be for Geelong into the future. AFC / Geelong...
