I'm personally a fan of having the 'Grand Final' being played as a best of three. One game at each team's home stadium and one at the MCG (which will likely end up as 2 games at the MCG). It's really the only way I can see any changes getting past the AFL, but I think it'll also result in...
The thing I enjoyed the most about Rance’s night is that after Cox took his 57th mark on him in the goal square he started posturing to the umpire for free kicks at every opportunity and got none.
There was an article recently on Costa offering GAblett a third party deal but the AFL saying it would have to be included in the salary cap due to obvious ties with Geelong. I’d guess clubs probably seek clarification about this all the time, and hopefully the AFL actually puts effort into...
Let's be honest here, if their disposal going i50 today wasn't just about the worst seen this year they'd have smashed Port. Port's defence played brilliantly, but they were gifted time by so many high kicks to dangerous but predictable spots. Need Garlett or someone else to provide a point of...
When you get two offensive sides like on QB it’s amazing viewing, but coaching is just so negatively oriented. The last GF between two attacking sides was probably 2011 (not helped by Sydney being in half of them since). Although 2012 was damned good to watch too... honestly haven’t enjoyed a...
Agree that the rules need to be more heavily adjudicated, and made to be black & white. The rules are so ambiguous it's no wonder the umpires struggle, and it also gives the umpires an 'out' so to speak. If the rules were more strict it would also be easier to evaluate the accuracy of an...
It's interesting because remembering the number of first round picks they had at first I thought some of those selections were a bit disappointing. But looking back on the players taken after them in the last two drafts, there aren't too many that strike me as being immediately obviously better...
To be fair we’ve seen 60 billion threads about Carlton already, and Essendon at least played finals last year.... can’t we all just agree the AFL suck at scheduling?
Fair call, but you're also slightly biased I'm sure :P
Throw Hogan into this too, I'm not sure we'll be able to know who was the best player until their careers are coming to an end.
Brown has shown a greater desire at this stage IMO which has elevated him. Daniher has the greater talent by far, but given his kicking woes I’d lean to Brown for an immediate selection for a game this week (assuming both fit). Kind of a moot point though really... I’d happily take both any...
I just think you should probably find better material to strengthen your defence of Kreuzer. Champion Data is pretty one-dimensional. FWIW I don't think Kreuzer is as bad as some of the others are making him out to be.
I didn't say Laird isn't already highly rated, I just don't think he necessarily gets the recognition he deserves considering just how far ahead of the rest he is (including Docherty but that's a whole other discussion I can't really be bothered with).
Rory Laird is one that gets me too, seriously doesn't get enough recognition. Far and away the best rebounding defender in the league right now, no one else is even close. Bloke can just do anything back there.
Surely that can't have been throughout his entire career... Unless he meant during a game purely? How would you go that many years in a team of ~40 people and not once speak to your direct manager one-on-one?
Played 50% game-time (which is a very important distinction) so 12 possessions isn't great but would have easily been ~20 if he played the usual 80~85%. Probably a mix of cruising/easing back into it after being off with injury. Speed was never an asset of his and has generally been durable so...
