This comment essentially ends the thread.
Succinct, factual and tells you everything you need to know in two sentences.
It's not up to the AFL (which is the league that began 1897 known as the VFL at the time) to count premierships not won in that league. Next these fools will be claiming it...
There have only been two H&A games in history that have drawn over 90,000 on a non-public holiday. Just two. Ever.
Carl-Ess in 2000 which drew over 91,000 and Rich-Carl in 2018 when the Tigers were unfurling their premiership flag.
Attendances of 90,000 just don’t happen unless it’s a public...
Yeah, as I’ve stated earlier I think we should wear red shorts as the home team which is acceptable if Carlton wear their traditional strip.
Ideal would be Carlton in white jumper and Essendon in black shorts, but red shorts and normal Carlton jumper is still acceptable if not perfect.
Now, this isn't a hill I'm prepared to die on but it just annoys me.
My view is white shorts should be banned for all clubs who don't have white as one of their colors.
The Bulldogs home jumper tonight is 90% blue. They have a thin white stripe and a thin red stripe.
The Lions obviously...
I think what happen now is that Caleb Serong executes a crane kick to the face of Johnny….. sorry Kai Lohmann to give the Dockers an emotional win on Grand Final day, while a satisfied Longmuir looks on approvingly with a nod and a wink.
It says something about how Freo are perceived that over the last couple of days only Freo fans have responded to this thread - after a 100 point win against a premiership fancy.
They are so under the radar this mob, it’s insane.
Essendon-Carlton this week. Its one of those "on the fence" games that isn't quite a clash, but it sort of is.
I think white shorts should be banned entirely for all clubs who don't have white as one of their colours.
So, the only clubs to wear white sometimes would be Collingwood, North...
Second best percentage. Lost (or drew) all their close ones. Could - or should - be sitting second.
Smokey for the premiership. Remember they basically finished top-4 in 2022 (only Collingwood winning all those close games that year prevented it) before having a gap year last year.
They have...
All the contenders (apart from Sydney) are, or have, fallen away.
GWS have lost 3 in a row and are struggling
Carlton have lost 4 of 6
Geelong have lost three in a row
Melbourne have lost two and appear to be a bit off the pace
Collingwood lost their first three, setting them back...
The Pies fan in question with the face tattoo - Justin Whitcombe - is an artist and he actually painted this picture for me which hangs from my wall.
My Girlfriend at the time, who lives in Geelong (where he is from) arranged him to do it for my birthday. I love it. Apparently he’s just a...
Exactly. Why are Gold Coast wearing white shorts when white is not one of their colors, yet white is one of Sydney's colours???
There is still this obsession, or "culture" of wearing white shorts for away games, which is really a relic of the past, and not relevant anymore. Yet clubs still do it.
3 Gather rounds is such a stupid idea, that is being proposed for all the wrong reasons. The AFL are proposing it, not because the idea has merit (it doesn't) but because it mathematically makes the 19 team season balance.
In a 19 team league, there cannot be a 23-match season. It's numerically...
Exactly. People, for some stupid reason want the VFL/AFL to count things in the history of that competition that didn’t occur in the history of that competition. Next they’ll be wanting the AFL to recognise the LA Lakers 17 NBA championships.
I know this is a bit of a cheap troll at the Pies, but to reiterate - how a club performs in the years prior to a premiership, and after a premiership has no relevance on their ranking.
Essendon honoured the 40 year anniversary of the 1984 Grand Final today and the margin was identical (24 points) and the final scores for both teams almost identical to that day (107-83 today compared to 105-81 forty years ago)
Its funny how it's always about the team the poster goes for.
That year is quite easy to justify. The Tigers finished 3rd with a percentage of 113%. They were always going to be towards the bottom of the list. Yes I know there are lot of other variables to consider but at the end of the day...
Remember that only 12 of the 127 places are non-Victorian teams, so by virtue of being outnumbered obviously Victorian teams dominate the list because there are simply more of them. The non-Victorian teams are spaced quite evenly throughout the list. West Coast of 1991 probably would have been a...
This exercise is now in its 22nd consecutive year. More than two decades! Some on here weren't born when this first started.
Time to see where the latest premiership team fits in to the list. I use my own knowledge from the time of have spent watching football combined with anecdotal...
Well I’ll be voting no for the same reason that people voted yes at over 90% in 1967 - To take race OUT of the constitution. We should all be treated equally irrespective of genetics.
Hopefully when you get into the privacy of the ballot box you’ll vote no too.
