Yup, traded a future mid first (wound up being 15 - was ontraded in the Cameron deal) for pick 27. The endlessly baffling element of that trade was why it wasn't done earlier. Were Brisbane, Port, Adelaide and Sydney all not answering their phones on the second night?

Reckon Melbourne will have a strong look, either to keep for themselves or to leverage their way up to pick 1. They've got 5, 15, 24, 34 and whatever they get for Grundy to play with.

Clubs pay for matched bid picks with swathes of 2nd, 3rd round picks, the earlier they have to match a bid, the more points they have to pay, the more picks are required and the more the drafting position of every other club is improved.

They might, but then with the SSP you can get a player in, see how they train and bond with the squad and skip the risk of someone else drafting them.

The three day turnaround is a dumb idea. Either go back to the old system weeks later which allows clubs to invite blokes out to train with them or do it on the same night.
